Well, went to the doctor today. Found out the cancer is 58.9% of the prostate gland. The doctor told me and my wife (Debbie)that we have three choices . 1. inplant of radiation seeds, 2.radiation , 3. Surgery. The doctor does not want to do surgery as the last resort. he believes that the radiation will be the best for me,and he does not want me to decide right now,to take some time to think it over. :( Ron

Ron, you are in my prayers. Think it over and even get a second opinion if that's what it takes for you to feel at peace with the treatment plan. Your doctor may even be able to refer to a group of men that have already gone through different treatments. You can talk with them about it, too.

Oh, Ron, was so hoping the tests were going to indicate benign :( Think the suggestion of getting a second opinion is a really good idea, maybe even a third. I have heard of so many cases where conflicting diagnosis kept men from doing something unnecessarily drastic. If you are doing some research on your own you might check out information from the Life Extension Foundation....they have had many articles about prostate cancer which are highly informative and might lead you to some alternative decisions. My DH is in his mid-70's so we try to stay up to date on this particular demon, among others.

Hopes and prayers that everything goes well for you.

Sending you thought and prayers as you wade through your treatment options. I've known a few men that had seeds, radiation, and surgery - all are in remission with no problems.
