My pet Whitetail .

Postby Dave » Fri Jan 02, 2009 10:36 pm

Here is the picture I took of my pet Whitetail . :P
He was an orphan , and he knew I was there , LOL . I talked to him on my way to my stand several times . He would put his tail up and trot in the woods behind me then come back out 15 minutes later and feed right below me .

The shadow over him is me in my tree stand . :P [img][/img] 8) Dave

Too cute! And are you really thinking about shooting this deer a few years down the road?

I might not see him again , or know if it's him . I know he's a buck because of the little nubs he had on his head . They were just bumps and he barely lost his spots before October . I hope the coyotes don't get him , or a Cougar that's been hanging out . I was packing my pistol the last few weeks in case I saw either .

He'll be safe hanging out by me   Dave

My parents who live in Rural Arkansas rescued a baby male white tail several years ago. Its mother had been hit and killed by a car. They raised this tiny little deer on calf replacer milk. He is now 5 years old, named Bucky and has a 8 point huge rack this year, He is truly a pet and lives in the backyard. He really thinks he is a dog.

I am flying there in Mid March to visit. I will be sure to take the camera. He is very tame and will come right to the back door where my mom gives him treats. My neice taught him to walk on a lead. They do have a 8 foot security privacy fence since when it is deer season crazy people think he would be an easy trophy. My moms German Shepard stays in the back yard with him and they are big buddys.
