Re: Merry Christmas, old friends!

Thank You, Cindy. I am happy that I re-found this forum. Last night I scrolled through a bunch of old posts. The owners' names and Britts were very familiar. Sadly as expected many of the dogs are no longer with us. I always found this site a great source of information for dogs in general and not j...

Re: Merry Christmas, old friends!

I thought this forum went to the Rainbow Bridge! Just came across it again accidentally. I lost my 15 yr old Brit (Jiggs) in April 2017. Adopted a Llewellen English Setter from Turkey shortly after. He was a great dog but I had him only 17 months. In April 2019 I adopted a rescue from North Carolina...

Re: Our litter is 4 weeks old!!!

That's a nice looking pup you are getting but I don't think she'll ever be able to dig a hole like your Bernie. I can never get that photo of Bernie out of my head.

Re: Kidney Disease

Thank You. I am heading out the door right now to visit him at the vets. He was in good spirits yesterday and he ate a bowl of shredded chicken. While I was visiting him outside his cage it was obvious that he had just realized that a cat was in the cage above him. He gave the cat a long look and th...

Kidney Disease

On Veterans Day last year I had to put my almost 15 year old Brittany to sleep. I had my heart set on another Brittany and I applied for an adoption thru ABR. I was not that confident of getting a Brit because of a small backyard. Wound up I came across a 5 year old English Setter which came from Tu...

Re: carpet steam cleaners for pet odors?

For many years I have used a Hoover Steamomatic I am not even sure it is made anymore. It has two separate tanks, one for the clean water/cleaning solution and a second one for the dirty water. It did an OK job. The bad thing is that it is extremely heavy especially if you have to climb stairs. For ...

Re: Hello from Bernie's mom!

Awhile back I lamented over the absence of many long term posters. I definitely remember your posts about Bernie's antics and his fondness for digging holes. I assumed that many of our four legged friends had passed which explained the lack of posts. This past Veterans Day I lost my Britt (Jiggs) tw...

Re: R.I.P. Jiggs 1/15/03 - 11/11/17

I would like to express my appreciation for the kind comments upon the passing of my Brit. They gave me some comfort during a difficult time. I hope I am not barred from the Brittany community for what happened next. There is a saying that when God closes one door, He opens another door. That is wha...

R.I.P. Jiggs 1/15/03 - 11/11/17

For the past two or three years it seems that an unusual number of Britts on this website have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. As my dog got older I dreaded the time when I would have to make that decision. I adopted Jiggs on D Day in 2004 when he was 17 months old. He had at least 3 or more homes befor...

Re: Laryngeal Paralysis

I haven't posted for a few years but I am going through a similar problem and worse right now. For approximately the past 2 years my Brit (Jiggs, Born 1/15/2003) has been more sensitive to the heat and he panted frequently but not constantly. As it progressed he also occassionally laid down to catch...

Re: Putting a bell on a hiking Brit

I have an extra dog collar with 2 small cow bells attached so if my Britt is on one of his runs in NE Pennsylvania and is out of sight, I have an idea where he is and I can track him down if he is slow returning. Up until last month I have had no problems with other animals but on June 10th I let hi...

Re: Priority of things to do in adoption

Congratulations on getting a new best friend. I have to respectively take exception to some of the previous posts: he sure looks like he has alot of Brittany in him. You are obviously very busy getting him up to snuff. Please don't forget to get him microchipped. Your vet may have checked for an exi...

Re: Am I doing the right thing?

I live in NY City (Staten Island). There are probably a million dogs living in apartments in this city including a small minority of Brittanys. My first dog who was a Springer/Something mix lived for 16 years in an apartment. He was bigger than your typical Britt but he had a good life . My Britt is...
