Re: Lola and Tramp, Lola is being hateful

I think it's a little too early to tell - need to give it some time and give conditioning a chance to work. There are a lot of tips on the www.aspca.org website about introductions, maybe those might be helpful.

Good luck!

Re: Squirrel obession

I'm using a similar method that Lisa is using with Charm - just slightly different. I'm teaching an autowatch (but we haven't got there yet) Start out teaching watch. Say the word "watch" and when they look click/treat. Do this in a controlled environment. If you need to you can even start out by lu...

Re: I'll try again...can Brittanys be trusted w/pet birds?

I think you can do it - but it's going to be constant management. When I was a child I had a shih tzu and a parakeet - the bird could fly and my shih tzu still caught him.(like Barb said, any dog) Luckily my mom was there and made the dog drop the bird = who ended up being ok. I'd be very very caref...

Re: What to buy for new puppy...

Every dog is different. My dog could care less about balls - while others are totally obsessed with them. I know this is going to sound funny, but you can get some really cheap puzzle type toys from places like CVS and Walgreens. I bought one from CVS that was similar to the NIna Ottoson ones they c...

Thanks,

Daisy is a very happy happy girl. That's what I love about VALOR agility trials....very supportive, and definitely not as stressful.

Valor Agility Trial This weekend Video

Daisy and I had a good day at Valor agility. We got three Q's (Standard, Jumpers and Perfect 50). We had a lot of nice firsts this trial - first time Daisy ever did weave poles during a trial (correctly - without a restart) First time she EVER stopped on the contacts - and didn't just fly off. You'l...

Re: How many non-hunting Britts here?

Daisy doesn't hunt (unless you count lunging and running after squirrels and bunnies). We do play agility, I take her for bike rides with my Springer attachment and we go on walks everyday - with an occasional hike here and there.

Re: Training Advice for a 10 month Male

Not all dogs are alike - while I think it's wonderful that your other dogs were reliable off leash at 10 months - not sure that that is really the norm. You're doing lots of great work with Mac and I just think it's going to take a little more time than you might have expected. Don't give up ! I'm s...

Re: Training Advice for a 10 month Male

Lisa gave you excellent advice. additionally, jumping and barking are not necessarily "dominance" issues, and more likely a result of being rewarded or reinforced, i.e. dog barks at mailman, mail man goes away....the mail man going away reinforces the bark - (not that the dog is trying to be dominan...

Re: Males better at being a watch dog?

Daisy is a very sweet girl and she likes just about everyone who comes in - although sometimes she can be a little shy. But man, when people walk by, esp. if they have a dog - she goes ballistic and flies at the window barking like a mad woman....you'd have to be stupid to come in my house with her ...
