Could Ryder be the next Bissell MVP?

Hey all! I've entered my Brittany pup Ryder in the Bissell MVP Pet Photo Contest, and if he wins I get to donate $10,000 to the pet charity of my choice. So of course that would be the ABR! Please take a few minutes to head over to the website, make an account (it's easy, fast, and so far no spam), ...

Re: Brittany Growth Rate

I was told that Brits are through growing height-wise by 9 months, and weight-wise around 18 months. My boy Maverick is about 23-23.5" (huge, I know...he blends in with my parents' German Shorthaired Pointers when they play), and just under 50 lbs. Ryder, on the other hand, is just barely 17.5" and ...

Re: Getting first male Brittany!

Congratulations on your first boy! I grew up with nearly all female dogs, but all of my dogs now are male. My oldest Brit Maverick who is 16 months old was neutered around 11 months and never marked in the house, even though he marks the fence and trees in the yard. And Ryder's just a baby, 5 months...

Re: Switching Foods

...Why would you think raw would affect their hunting?...Are you thinking they'd want to eat the birds? Actually yes, that idea had been suggested to me. I just hadn't met anybody that fed raw and hunted with their dogs to prove that statement wrong, so it's good to hear it from someone who has Bri...

Switching Foods

Hello all! Hope everyone is enjoying the season getting ready for Thanksgiving. I'm writing to you all today to ask for opinions. I'm currently feeding my boys Diamond Naturals Chicken & Rice formula, and they've just had the most horrible gas since switching to it (and they've been on it for about ...

Re: My New Baby!

Thank you everyone! Maverick likes him quite a lot. They played nearly non-stop yesterday, and by yesterday night when it was time for bed Ryder didn't even make a peep when I put him in his crate, he just laid down and went right to sleep he was so tired! Maverick's always been very good with other...

My New Baby!

His first match will be in September. Here's a couple pictures for your viewing pleasure! ~Candice http://...

Re: Named by a Britt?

Wow! Okay, so I went onto their website to check out this "Poopy's", and was wondering what kind of food would be served at such a place, or at least what kind of creative names they'd come up with. For those of you who have the time and don't mind a little cursing, check out the menu and re...

Lure Coursing?!

Hey all! I just saw the little movie of the Brittany lure coursing in the ABR newsletter! That looks AMAZING. I can totally see my dog getting into that. So...how do you get into that? Anyone aware of any coursing clubs in Texas that would allow all breeds? For those of you who may have missed the n...

Re: Low Appetite

Well, he's been eating a mush of his food and a little bit of the Dachshund's wet food mixed in for flavor for the past few days. Seems to really like it and eats it right up, but still turns his nose when I offer him just the dry food. It's got to be a taste issue, I don't know what else it could b...

Re: Low Appetite

Thanks Barb for the advice. I've been thinking since Maverick came back that it looks like he's gained a couple pounds, but I didn't know that could be grounds for him to go off of his food. But yeah he's been acting perfectly normal; running, jumping, digging, bird-watching, acting like a maniac at...

Low Appetite

Hello all, Well, after a two-week vacation, I return home to find a dog who I don't think is as healthy as he should be. My parents took care of Maverick, and my mom said that the last two days he was at their house he didn't seem to want to eat his food, but she also commented that he could've been...

Re: He is Huge...

I've got a big boy too! Maverick's been oversized since he was 6 months old. Right now, at 11 months old, I'd estimate him to be 23-24", and he weighs 45 lbs without being overweight. Lol, he accompanied me to a dog show a couple weeks ago, and some friends who hadn't seen him in a while thought I'd...

Aggression--Help Please

Hello All, I can't believe I'm writing this, but unfortunately I am. My 11-month-old boy Maverick is absolutely one of the sweetest dogs to me, my friends, and family. I would never peg him to have an aggressive bone in his body. The one thing he does is bark at cars and unfamiliar people that he ca...
