Just curious, those of you who have done agility with their dogs-how and when do you introduce it? Our puppy, Gracie, is almost 7 months old now and does not have an "off" button!!! We went through puppy kindergarten with her. (Wasn't exactly at the top of her class, unlike our Maggie  ) She i...
Three days to go, we had to pick another pup, the breeder wanted to keep the one I had picked out.  he reduced the price of the pup down, some. That just sounds really odd. Did they decide to keep that one because they will be showing or is there some other reason? Did you have 1st p...

We've used Taste of the Wild for years now. Read the reports of potential heart problems with grain free food, read many rebuttals. Am now considering changing foods for Emma because in all of that reading, if I understand correctly, grain free foods also tend to be higher in calories? Emma definite...

Why don't you just go out with her?
No, you guys are not losing your minds or your memories! This is actually the 1st I posted about it since we lost him. Was too sad for awhile to think about it. Emma had a vet appointment that Monday. Sammy had a bad day Sunday, so I called the vet and asked if we could switch dogs and bring in Sam ...
Sigh....the posts from Bernie's Mom have me thinking (just a little bit) of puppies. We lost Sammy the day after Easter. Knew the time was coming, just wasn't ready for it (are we ever?) But, he was 15 years & 8 months, so we were blessed to have him that long. So, we have gone from a 3 Brittany hom...

Yes, Pat Miller and Karen Pryor are both excellent. I also highly recommend "My Smart Puppy" by Sarah Wilson and Brian Kilcommons. And don't let the title fool you-this book is actually excellent for training ANY age dog!
We broke down and bought a Hoover carpet cleaner on Sat. Used it Sunday, and it actually did an impressive job. By Tues, Sammy had already peed on the carpet twice and pooped on it once :( But that's ok-we just deal with it. I suggested to my husband that we try doggie diapers at night, because that...
We do have one waterproof liner. The other beds, I confess-we put the bed in a garbage bag, put the bed & bag in the cover, and then stick a towel in between the bed cover & garbage bag for extra absorption. We currently have 4 beds that we keep rotating as needed. Don't know how long they'll hold u...
Sammy is now 15 1/2 years old. Had him in for his 6 month checkup in Dec, and "parts" of him are doing remarkably well according to the vet. She did a blood panel on him to check liver/kidneys, etc and he passed everything with flying colors. Has a strong heart beat. His appetite is good, although h...

Sammy has been having so many accidents lately. We clean them up immediately & use Nature's Miracle by the gallon it seems, but things are getting out of hand! (Yankee Candle has been benefiting from this-been burning candles religiously  ) Anyway, looking for recommendations for a steam clean...
It has been a tough couple of weeks. It hasn't been above freezing around here since before Christmas, and the last week was especially cold. Was -2 when I went to work one morning! Sammy can't take the cold and can't put his paw on even the tiniest patch of ice without slipping. Snow is ok for a sh...
