Re: Hemangiosarcoma

"IT" was a large hematoma (bunch of blood vessels) attached to her spleen. Lab said there were some slightly irregular cells that could be related to a Lymphoma that is localized to the spleen. They said I could have the cells tested for another $300 but that even if the cells tested positive for th...

Re: Hemangiosarcoma

My vet just called, Lily doesn't have it! I'm so relieved :D

I tried telling Lily that she was okay as she laid on the couch next to me, she just lifted her head and looked at me like "yeah, so?"

Re: Hemangiosarcoma

Thank you Cindy. She is about 6, the mass ruptured and she bled a little, it stopped on its own but made her weak and lethargic, which prompted the vet visit. I have read that the chemo could give her a few extra months and also that they tolerate it pretty well, like you said. I am going to conside...

Hemangiosarcoma

My Lily had her spleen removed today, she had a large mass on it. She is doing well so far in recovery. That's the good news. Bad news is that my Vet says that it's likely that this is hemangiosarcoma, we will not know biopsy results for several days but she says that it is aggressive and metastasiz...

Re: Nail clipping

I was told by a groomer friend of ABR in IL once that the best way is to dremel about once a week, but you have to expose the quick each time until it reduces back to where it should be. She did it to Eli once to show me and he didn't cry, it didn't bleed or anything. I didn't keep up with it though...

Re: What does an English Setter owner know?

As a brittany and a setter owner, the only thing I can think of is that when he said 'snippy' he really meant 'bossy'. Eli is always trying to tell me what to do! Lily is very sweet but is a bit crazy, she has major anxiety problems. Since I don't know any other setters I don't know if the neurosis ...

Re: prong collars

I use one on Eli because at 52 lbs he could pull me off my feet no problem (and I'm not small!) He's incredibly strong, I tried the Gentle Leader on him and all it did was make him upset. Anyway, I was shown that the prong collar should not be tight when it's on but you should not be able to pull it...

Re: What's up with that....?

Lily loves ornaments too, she has to be crated while the tree is up. Last year she chewed up 20-25 ornaments over 3 sessions. She even grabs the glass ones, they break and she spits them out

Re: Dental work

Eli was about 3 when I got him and he had really bad teeth even then. His front ones are all nubs and 3 of the 4 canines were broken and the first layer of enamel was worn off. I had both canines on the right side removed, there were holes in the tops of the teeth and his roots were exposed. He did ...

Re: Who goes out before bed?

Does anyone else's dog "pretend" to go? Copper will run out to the grass and stand still out there for a moment like he's going, then run back into the house to get his treat. Without ever actually peeing. Please tell me he's not the only one..... He's not the only one, Lily does it too. I tell her...

Coyotes in the suburbs

I live in a suburban area in an apartment. My first floor patio faces a golf course. Last night at my dogs' 8pm potty break, I put them on the leads and stood right inside the door watching them. All of a sudden Eli starts barking his head off like I've never heard him do before, Lily joins him of c...
