Re: Missing Britt in Delaware

Barb, you scared me. Until I saw "adopted from ABR" I thought MY Jackson had gone missing! (No longer live with the parents, so while I'm absolutely positive they'd let me know the minute a dog got loose, it still gave my heart a little jolt!) My Jackson (or "Jack" as we call him) is also liver and ...

Oh yes. I've caught Ziva digging empty packets out of the garbage can, and found her mindlessly licking at them.

Anyway, she is on day 3 of no probiotic and ::fingers crossed:: so far everything seems fine!

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

This is GREAT news.... alot of cats don't tolerate grains well - so hopefully this is the solution. Glad to hear that Kitty is feeling better. Rose Thanks! She's still doing excellently. I'm weaning her off the probiotics. Down to 1/2 packet a day for a few more days. She's been on a half dose for ...

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

So, I switched Ziva to a grain-free food. Well, what I really did was fast her for 24 hours (which she LOVED, let me tell you...), then give her a little grain free wet food, which was essentially shredded chicken in a little gravy solution. Honestly, it looked and smelled like chicken soup (heavy o...

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

.. She handles hairballs fairly well. Only occasionally horks one up, and I try to give her a preventative. I would guess from this that you are giving some kind of greasy supplement that helps hair make it's way through the toxic waste chute? Not a cat person, but I think I can positively say that...

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

Hmm, has she had an xray = wondering if there is a chance she has a partial blockage of some sort? Hope she gets feeling better soon There's a great site called http://www.catinfo.org - it has some great stuff on a feeding and all things cat... Rose I doubt it's a blockage. She hasn't had an xray, ...

I'll lay money that is the result of a allergy. I wonder if dandruff could be the result of an allergy?
I'm betting it might be. Aaaarrrgh.

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

Hmmm....that's an idea. Ziva has eaten raw fish before, so she might like that. I'm fasting her today to see if that helps her tummy - she's still having off and on diarrhea even though she's on the probiotic. One day it'll be normal, the next day splat. So she gets fasted today, tomorrow she'll get...

Re: Hot in Virginia!

Assateague is one of my favorite places but I haven't been there in years. Not since my brother moved to Cape Hatteras and I could bring the dogs and stay for free. I do love the wild ponies and have vivid memories of hiking down the beach, spreading out my towel, lounging in the sun, and then open...

Re: Hot in Virginia!

I was in Chincoteague all weekend, so I definitely know what you mean! I got to cool off at the beach, however. Saturday was absolutely PERFECT for a beach day on Assateague.

Got a wicked sunburn, though.

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

Hey, sorry you're having trouble with Kitty. Fortiflora is good stuff for cats and usually works well so I'd keep her on that. I was thinking that maybe she could have worms, but if you had her stool tested and I'm sure they checked for that. I have three cats of my own, so I do have some experienc...

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

I've had a fair number of cats (and LOVE them) and only twice had a dandruff issue and that was with older cats who had trouble grooming themselves. I just started bushing/combing them alot and it seemed to take care of the problem. As for the diarrhea hmmm - I would think you'd want to take her to...

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

Aw, I've been a cat lover AND a dog lover all my life. Ziva is my ::counts in head:: sixth cat. Thanks for the advice! We tried her on the all wet food for a bit, but once the novelty of wet food wore off, (and she was no longer scarfing it down), she would leave her bowl half full. Once the wet foo...

Re: Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

No clue, except dandruff can be a stress symptom in dogs, maybe in cats too. Sounds like your life is going at top speed.....Congratulations on the upcoming wedding, wishing you all the best :D Thanks! I thought maybe it was just stress, but she's not stressed out at all now. It's been over two mon...

Kitty Dandruff Help? (and other fun stuff)

Hey guys! Long time no post - mainly because I've been super busy planning my wedding, AND because I finally moved out of Mom and Dad's house, so I no longer interact with a herd of Brittanys every day. :) I do, however, still have my cat Ziva. While she has transitioned well to living in an apartme...
