Re: Stubborn

I am not sure how to go about finding out what is bothering him. When we get him in, he seems fine. If it is later,, he runs up and goes to bed and snuggles up at my feet when I get in. If it is earlier he snuggles up against my husband on the sofa in the basement or in the corner of the sofa. I thi...

Re: Stubborn

Update on Rocco. Our friends got their puppy. Rocco is in love. He comes home, eats dinner and goes up to bed. We were doing pretty good with Rocco coming inside. Now he is back to as soon as we call he just sits there. Tonight he hid under the holly bush and wouldn't come in. Should I just leave hi...

Re: Stubborn

Rocco is getting better I hope. I do like the idea of changing the word `here` instead of `come`. He comes when he wants to so I'm thinking it is a poisoned cue. He comes during the day it's just in the evening when he won't come in the house. One thing Rocco does which makes us laugh is drag himsel...

Stubborn

Rocco has a new trick. When he decides he doesn't want to do something he lays down on his side and becomes dead weight. He is too heavy for me to try and lift up. We have put a harness on him and have him on a long lead but this doesn't seem to help. Most of the time it is when he is outside and do...

Sleepy

Rocco is really settling in. My question is at 7 months how much should he be sleeping during the day? He seems to sleep a lot during the day and isn't as playful as I thought he would be. At 7 months I feel he is a very good dog with a couple exceptions. He grabs clumps of grass and runs around wit...

First swim

We took Rocco to a State park yesterday. It was his first time with natural water. He waded tentatively at first but kept going back and sniffing. At the next spot there was deeper water. He walked out and when it got deeper he just started swimming. We would have stayed longer but there were other ...

Scared of the noise from a portable air conditioner

Now that it is summer we need to turn on portable air conditioners. Rocco is scared of the noise that they make. He will not come in from outside. As soon as he does he turns around and cries at the door to go back outside. He will go down to the family room in the basement and not come up. His kenn...

Re: calming biscuits

I am sorry I'm late getting to this post but I am happy I did. We are finding Rocco is afraid of the beeps of turning on and off our room air conditioners, he doesn't like the sound that they make. I turned the one on in our bedroom last night and he ran down the steps and hid in the hallway going t...

So many questions

Rocco is 6 months old now. He just got neutered two weeks ago and we have lived to tell about it. One of my main concerns is Rocco keeps pulling up Tufts of grass and eating them which upset his stomach. He runs away so we can't get them from him before he can just them. I try throwing a ball or a f...

Re: 7 week puppy who won't sleep at night

Update on Rocco: he still sleeps on the bed until bedtime. Last night he jumped off the bed on his own and crawled into his crate. He is 5 months old already. Worst thing about him is eating grass in the yard. He looks like a cow. He also gooses us and I don't know how to make him stop. He will be g...

Re: Fun with shaping

Question-doing clicker and touch. Which hand holds the treat? I can't click and hold the treat in the same hand. But if I put it in the other hand he goes for the treat. I don't quite have the knack for the clicker. Rocco was so afraid of it he would run and cower. No matter how soft I made the soun...

Re: 7 week puppy who won't sleep at night

Rocco is 15 weeks old today. He has settled in pretty well. His personality is starting to show. He is VERY talkative. He gets manic right before he goes to sleep. Trying to figure out how to calm him down. I try training him but too crazy to focus. He also is at the age where he doesn't listen. It ...

Re: 7 week puppy who won't sleep at night

We have had Rocco almost two weeks but it seems longer than that. He sleeps from 10pm until 5am which is when dh gets up for work. He takes him out and brings him back to our room for a snuggle then back in the crate while I get dressed. Today I thought he was asleep when I put him back in the crate...

Re: 7 week puppy who won't sleep at night

Update. Rocco fell asleep last night before we were quite ready for bed. My husband ook him out and then he brought him in our room. He was wild which meant he was tired. I calmed him down and he got sleepy. We put him in the little crate and he went right to slerp and only got up once. I was stress...
