Changes in behavior

I have a question about my ~12 yr old Britt. We adopted her in 2003 and since that point she's had relatively few health issues. We were told when we adopted her she had a subluxed patella. I mentioned it to our vet during our first visit and he said that it probably would eventually give her proble...

Our Brittany had a similar story. She was rescued from making puppies, spade, and also had a mammary lump removed. All of this occured before we adopted her but the lump was benign and she hasn't had any problems since. I asked our vet about it when we took her in for an initial visit and he said it...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I need to head out and buy some type of rope. Our flexis aren't very long and I'd like to give her more room to move. jwmkem - Yep I was talking about our Dolly girl. I'm glad to know she's enjoyed swimming in the past. Hopefully she'll remember how much fun i...

Going to the Lake

My husband and I have rented a cabin on the lake which is pet friendly so we'll be taking our dogs with us. They've never really been around enough water to swim in so I have no idea if they'll like swimming BUT I want to prepared if they do want to swim. My main concern is our Britts recall. She's ...

I'll second the suggestion for Capture. It works wonderfully in our house and got out several old urine stains that I thought would never come out. The hardest part is waiting the 30 minutes before you can vacuum.

As someone who has benefited from the excellent fostering that ABR provides I want to say Thank You. Dolly didn't come to us the "perfect" dog (and she still isn't) but she was obviously loved while in the rescue. She had several medical problems that were taken care of (and I know they must have be...

Our Beagle Mix also hates to get her paws wet. She will go out when the grass is wet (either from dew or rain) but she only goes far enough into the grass to do her business (and 25% of the time she still has her butt hanging over the driveway). She also doesn't really like wet pavement so if the dr...

Dolly snores so loudly we literally cannot sleep in the same room as her. She snores no matter what position she sleeps in and she doesn't have to be deep asleep to snore. Pretty much anytime she sleeps she will snore. She also gets up during the night to rearrange her bed in her kennel and this has...

Merry Christmas from Dolly & Annie

I don't post very often but I do enjoy reading posts. Since everyone is sharing their Christmas pictures, here are Dolly & Annie to wish you a very Merry Christmas. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/2361/p1000828cropped9at.th.jpg Just as a background, we adopted Dolly from ABR in Sept of 2003 and A...

I have to agree with the above comments. We adopted our Britt Dolly when she was 8 or 9. She is very affectionate & is pretty much my constant shadow but essentially has no use for toys. Occasionally she will chew on a nylabone if it's out - she especially likes them if it has someone else's fresh s...

We have one Brittany who is liver & white. She is somewhere between 8 - 10 & the liver on her face is flecked with white. However, the rest of her liver patches are very dark. People only know she is an older girl from her face since she acts like a puppy all the time!

Paula, Google has a BETA Catalog search engine that allows you to search & browse catatlogs. You can find it at http://catalogs.google.com/ . Unfortunately, the most recent Plow & Hearth I could find was Holiday 2003. If the catalog you are looking for is recent, the engine may not be updated yet si...
