Re: Arthritis Treatment

My Beau will be 14 in March. He has been limping quite severely for a couple months. It seems like it is one back leg and one front leg. My vet feels it is arthritis and she is very conservative, but I'm wondering if there is more I can do for him. She has prescribed Gabapentin for pain and says to ...

Re: Water intake

That is something I hadn't thought about - a habit. It could very well be that because she came from a situation, I gather, of being ignored and relegated to the yard - perhaps with enough water, perhaps not. And where she lived got quite warm some months out of the year - so I suppose she just deve...

Water intake

My Copper girl who I adopted in July last year (age 7) drinks LOTS and LOTS of water and pees like a racehorse! No little spot marking for her on our walks. She leaves many huge puddles! On our first visit to the vet, the vet said, "Wow, she has quite a bladder." So I'm assuming all the water consum...

Re: Westminster Breed Results--Brittany

Gorgeous dogs! But no liver and white? Is that not breed standard? I have both, and I have to admit my Beau (orange and white) glows in the sun; whereas, Copper (WHO named her Copper??? She's liver and white!!) isn't nearly as beautiful (but don't tell her I said so!) :)

Re: Ears

Thank you so much for your input! I happen to have a vet appointment for Copper on Friday so I will ask them to run a full thyroid panel and see if she'll send it to Dr. Dodd. I now feel more secure about trimming Copper's ears! :)

Ears

I adopted a 7-year-old liver Britt last summer who had been sadly neglected and her fur was in terrible shape. After several months of good food, her hair is finally growing in but is still very whispy and thin and she has a little bit of dandruff. I give her salmon oil in addition to a very high qu...

Re: Cancerous nasal tumor

Thank you all! Apparently they have quite the facility there - extremely sophisticated top-of-the-line equipment which allows them to target more precisely the area needing radiation. They did some sort of CAT scan of her head, to map the tumor exactly. She had the radiation three different days. On...

Re: Cancerous nasal tumor

Just wanted to give an update - my brother and his Gerdie-girl are back from CSU after receiving three days of radiation. He was SO impressed with the facilities, equipment and doctors there. (He said he's going to go there if he ever needs radiation.) :) The prognosis is good - it was a best-case s...

Re: Cancerous nasal tumor

I will do that. All the reports have been sent to Colorado and he is awaiting a call back from a vet there. The waiting is the worst. :(

Cancerous nasal tumor

My brother's 5-year-old was just diagnosed with this. He lives in Park City, and they are recommending he take her for radiation to CSU in Colorado (they diagnosed the biopsy). Has anyone had any experience with this with regards to the treatment, how long it is, the outcome, the cost, etc.? I feel ...

Re: Scuff is "Adoption Pending!"

My brother helped transport Scuff through Utah, and he said he was a very sweet fellow. I'm sure Dave is up there smiling that his "boy" has a wonderful new home with other canine friends!

Happy Birthday, Diamond! What a girl - 17! Don't we all just hope our Brits make it to that ripe old age. She has obviously led a charmed life. :D

Thanks for the laugh! :D My Lab goes and gets the paper while my Brit waits at the cookie jar, knowing that's next, after the paper comes in.

Q on leash walking

My adopted Brit, Beau, seems to have been a hunter in his prior life. But I'm wondering about something - when I take him walking or running, he seems to have a definite perception of poles, bushes, trash cans, etc., and always (almost) stays on the correct side of these obstacles. My friend's Brit ...

Re: rawhides, etc solutions?

I give Beau bully sticks from bestbullysticks.com - they are pretty reasonable (considering) and they don't smell too bad.
