Re: Laryngeal Paralysis
My Britt died at 12 from this. We decided to let him go rather than endure another course of antibiotics for aspiration pneumonia. He reacted terribly to the antibiotics and had such a slew of other issues. I would have most definitely considered the surgery if he did not have chronic hepatitis that...

Re: Liver lesion -help
We'll that is the thing I feel so grateful about.....I am a believer in getting baseline bloodwork done for exactly this reason. He had no symptoms. His recovery fr the surgery has been awesome. Had we waited til he was symptomatic I am not sure he would have done so well. His incision looks so good...

Re: Liver lesion -help
My boy is doing great. Had his staples out this week. He is still not allowed any walks until next week and short ones at that. Biggest challenge has been keeping him off the furniture. He is allowed to sleep up there but I can't have him jumping on or off so for now it's out. He doesn't get it. He ...

Re: Liver lesion -help
We are home today from Masons surgery. The mass was bigger than the ultrasound suggested. Also more difficult to access due to his narrow deep chest but he did really well. Spent two nights in hospital and home today. The incision is huge....like ten inches? He is on oral pain meds. Leash only for p...

Re: Shep has Renal Failure - UPDATE !!!!
I love good days! This is great news. I believe there is a lot more now to manage renal failure than there was a few years ago. Right on!

Re: Liver lesion -help
We saw the surgeon yesterday at the critical care animal hospital. I have decided to pursue surgery likely to happen over the next couple of weeks. Accord to the ultrasound it is in a part of the liver less busy but could be different once in there. It involves at least an overnight stay probably tw...

Re: Liver lesion -help
The radiologist thinks it's cancer but until it's biopsied we don't know. I'm grateful that the lesion is small but I am struggling right now to not jump to conclusions or catastrophize. I will keep you updated after we see the surgeon -over the years I have got a lot of support from this forum. Tha...

Liver lesion -help
My 11 yr old boy had some baseline bloodwork which revealed elevated liver enzymes. They were normal 2 yrs prior. He had an ultrasound and the radiologist says he has a small lesion in one lobe. I am devastated as I lost my other britt in December after many years of chronic hepatitis. We are going ...

Re: New pup to the house -adjustment trouble!
Just an update. We still have some issues.....Abner remains quite pesky with our older boy but it is much less often now and my older Brit doesn't appear miserable anymore. Abner has begun to gain weight -after we eradicated the worms. He is very active, very interested in every single thing. On the...

Re: New pup to the house -adjustment trouble!
We've had some improvement. My older boy gives some louder growls occasionally...they aren't enough to stop Abner for long but it works in the moment. His house training is coming along......we have him accepting a long down on leash. That's my sweet moment of sanity. I think he learned to jump like...

Re: New pup to the house -adjustment trouble!
Oh, I can't say enough about Abner-his new name. He is sweet and loving, curious. He loves people and other dogs. He isn't fearful like I thought he'd be. He takes a couple feet back and then returns when he is surprised by something. He is very close to perfect......Everything is checked out with s...

Re: New pup to the house -adjustment trouble!
Thanks barb, We are not fostering him, we adopted him. There seemed no ability to foster but I know that was what we should have done. I am definitely giving it the best chance -I want it to work but I need to be okay with letting him go to a better home if that is what happens. Kills me to think he...

New pup to the house -adjustment trouble!
We have a ten yr old submissive briitany. Came to us at two and has always been timid. Our older britt who died in dec was the leader but a very subtle one. We just brought home a one yr old fr a very neglectful heartbreaking situation. New boy is wonderful, very sweet. He is pushing my old boy to p...
