Re: Hair Loss

I wouldnt be able to say for certain but I know this time of year Jeice's fur gets very very very thin...I can see his skin and on the days that we spend a lot of time outside i put sunscreen on him. It seems to thicken back up when its not the super hot summer months. With a switch to a high qualit...

Pet Insurance

We recently had a scare with Jeice getting a cut on his belly while running around on a hike. The vet costs were way more than I would expect for such a small - albeit serious- cut. I hadn't taken out Pet Insurance, Ive always looked at it like its a scam....but I hear a lot of people are using it t...

Thoughts on Pet Stores?

Hey everybody, I was hoping to get some opinions of what you feel when the idea of a pet store comes to mind. My reason for asking this is that there is a pet store near my work that i have heard has just recently acquired two brittany puppies. This came as a shock to me because britts are very very...

Re: switching from puppy to adult food

The main thing to consider is that puppy foods only differ from "adult" foods in that they generally have a higher protein and fat content by a small margin, and contain added DHA. for instance, if Im correct in assuming you are using this food : http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/product-details.aspx?p...

Re: new here!

The zoomies really becoming something that you will love seeing. I get to see it in both boys when we get to the dog park each night, everyone else loves to watch it as my boys do laps around all the other dogs with the biggest smile on their faces. Keep establishing yourself as the one in control a...

Re: Jeice hurt his neck

Thanks for your responses, I am keeping his collar off full time now using a harness. I am starting to think it must be some kind of infection too, because it does seem like it has spread a bit. I will look for some calendula ointment. He isn't scratching and it doesn't smell. To be honest, he doesn...

Jeice hurt his neck

Hey everyone, A few weeks ago I took Jeice to the beach, and I left his collar on his neck. I realized when we got home that the water and sand had rubbed his neck really bad, and it is just raw skin now. It looks really chapped, so I have been keeping bag balm on it as often as I can. I have stoppe...

Re: On track? Or in trouble?

I recently handled this for both Jeice and Tucker. Whenever they would try to get nippy with me I grab their snout and hold their mouth shut until they look me in the eyes. They really dont like it, but I know that I'm not hurting them. After about 3 or 4 times of getting excited and biting they lea...

Re: dog food for Brittanys

That Victor food looks pretty solid from looking at dogfoodadvisor, but I can't figure out why their grain-in formula uses sorghum of all things. That seems so strange to me. I would like to try that one out but I see that they mostly use beef as their protein source and for some reason Jeice gets T...

Just a Dog

I don't know if anyone has seen this before but I saw it as one of the mission statements for my vet's office and it really hit me hard. I took it down and I am sharing it with other people that dont know how to explain it to non-dog-owners. From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a...

Re: oh oh... am I training the wrong thing?

Maybe you could try having a small jar of treats outside your office and ask people to come in randomly from time to time, hand him a treat and then just carry on like nothing out of the ordinary. Over time I would assume he would become less wary of strangers and more expecting of treats.

Re: oh oh... am I training the wrong thing?

Jeice has just recently started barking for the first time in his life, and it is usually only when someone comes into my house unexpectedly. If any of my friends let themselves in or my brother comes over unannounced Jeice runs out growling and barking, and then calms down once he sees who it is. T...
