Re: Cushing's Disease Diagnosis

I came to this board for the first time in ages tonight since our vet wants to test Missy (who is now 10-12) for Cushing's. We thought that she was just having normal female incontinence when she slept, but as things have progressed, she has had more accidents daily, and exhibits the constant hunger...

Re: DAVE, OH DAVE (MAJOR tissue alert)

This is the first time I've logged in for a while. So sad to hear about his passing, but I think he's too covered in kisses on the other side to think about tears now. I never met him, but we did exchange e-mails several times and his advice really helped. May God be with his family during this time...

Re: POSSIBLE problems with Nutro

I've been feeding both of mine the Nutro Lamb and Rice small bites for a long time. My wife had mentioned that Indy has thrown up yellow bile in the backyard over the past few weeks, and Missy threw up yellow bile today. I don't know think her gums were white though. I just bought a 40lb bag of this...

Re: My Britt's new job..

Two PB hounds here. If give Missy first dibs since her snout...I mean muzzle is shorter than Indy's. When she's gotten all she can reach, I give it over to Indy and he literally polishes off the rest. They do occasionally bite the plastic, but I am watching and tell them to knock it off. If they don...

Re: We Are Moving!

Mike, Congrats on your move! I definitely know where you're coming from regarding insurance! We pay $2000/year with a $5000 deductible! Curious how your property taxes will translate since I don't know if you're in Metaire, La Place, Covington, or the 9th Ward! Based on the latest guidance we might ...

Dog Friendly Bird Seed?

We have two bird feeders in the back yard since my daughter likes to watch the birds. We have been filling them with whole black oil sunflowers seeds, which are supposed to be the best thing for the birds. However, both dogs just go straight for the feeders and eat all of the seeds the birds drop. I...

Re: he's been digging! get ready to laugh!

I do have a couple of dig dogs, they are nothing compared to that! If my wife saw a hole that size in the backyard, she'd probably bury the dog in it! Thanks for sharing.

I use the springer jogger for a while now, and have gotten some great use out of it. Indy adjusted with no problem, but I really had to work with Missy since she wanted to be able to slam on the breaks at any given moment and do her business. I had to adjust the rope to make sure that neither dog co...

Run in with a feral cat

This evening Missy was going crazy to go outside, so we let her. We heard some commotion and stepped outside to find that she had treed two small cats. She was under the tree that the on cat was in and the other one made a break for it. Missy chased it down and had it pinned against the fence when I...

Doug, I really feel your pain on this one as Indy is much the same way. I think being the poop police is the only way to get around this, unless you can train Greta to come for a treat as soon as she poops. Both of mine are extremely fast eaters, and I have had success by just adding water to their ...

You're definitely hanging out with the wrong crowd for just 1 dog! I adopted Missy for many of the reasons you listed and it has worked out well. I did wait until Indy was about 7 months old to adopt. When he was a puppy it took so much energy to keep him from chewing everything, potty training, and...

Kenneling Question

We are heading to my parents house on Wednesday through Saturday and they have a no dog policy. Normally I take them to the vet, but they are closing at noon Tuesday and will not open again until Monday. So that means an additional $$$ just because of their hours. The conditions are good there and, ...
