Re: Courage is hard of hearing....

Thanks Barb & Cindy,

To answer the horse question, we have 2 now. Not sure if I posted this picture before or not, but it's one of my favorites:

Re: Courage is hard of hearing....

We're all good! My house is for sale (my son graduates highschool in June), the dogs are all staying with John in PA. I weekend there....just makes it easier to show the house. Tessa (Ch. Hope's Dream Weaver) was bred to Doug Tighe's Chevy (Best in Show winning Brittany Ch. Tonan-Hope's RU Kiddin' M...

Courage is hard of hearing....

Well, at 10 1/2 years old Courage is pretty hard of hearing. He still seems to be able to hear some inside, but when he's outside patroling the fence line, it's impossible to get his attention, especially at night. I've tried turning the lights on and off a few times, calling to him....nothing. I'd ...

Re: Did I not mention.....

Cindy, the dogs are now officially moved to PA. We decided to list my house for sale now, instead of waiting until Spring, 2011. Connor (my 17 yr old son) and I will need to come back to NJ in September for him to finish his senior year, but if the house sells (keeping fingers crossed), we'll get an...

Re: Did I not mention.....

Thanks all! Cindi, I missed your post! Yup, still riding. In fact, John (boyfriend) and I bought a 2nd horse a year ago...a black & white TWH named Quinn from other field trialers. He's the PERFECT 1st horse...he takes great care of John: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c383/travelerGirl/quinn.jpg...

Re: Hunt Test?

I'm assuming that this isn't an AKC hunt test (I've never heard of using dead birds at a hunt test being given by a licensed AKC club). Courage was 4 yrs old when he saw his first real (live) game bird. It didn't make him any more or less prey driven. He chased every tweetie and squirrel in the yard...

Re: Did I not mention.....

That's too funny! Chevy & Tessa have had "babied" coats. Blaze....not so much! Here's Blaze, hanging out with one of the fosters in the backyard following field trial season: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c383/travelerGirl/DSCF1372.jpg Blaze has had all his coat clipped off more times than I can...

Re: Did I not mention.....

Thank you! Some of the old-timers on the forum probably remember me posting pictures of Tessa as a baby. Yup, this is KIND OF my first litter. Doug Tighe (who has been a wonderful ABR volunteer for many years) gave me Tessa when she was a baby with the understanding that he'd get 1 litter out of her...

Did I not mention.....

Tessa is a show Champion! http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c383/travelerGirl/Dogs/TessaCh.jpg And she has a date with the #1 Show Brittany in the country this month (Ch. Re: DAVE, OH DAVE (MAJOR tissue alert)

I couldn't agree with Brian more. Dave was a hero and champion to the dogs in ABR, and so many other rescue groups. He was a constant source of support to all of us, and selfless in his dedication and love of the dogs. We have lost one of the great ones! My condolences to Diane and the rest of his f...

Re: Tail Length

I believe the official standard says not longer than 4 inches, but it does have a lot to do with conformation. The tail is suppose to be an extention of the spine, with only a slight drop between the end of the spine and base of the tail. A dog with a lower tailset, IMO, should be docked shorter tha...

Re: Anybody from New Jersey Area?

You're very welcome! If you do go to Longview, ask Pete (the owner) or any of the kennel help to point out Chloe or Blaze (both are there now for field training although Blaze is due home at the end of the month). Pete's a great guy, and his kennel is absolutely immaculate.

You can also try www.hopeskennels.com They breed & show Brittanys....have a WONDERFUL kennel in Blairstown, NJ. Also Longview Kennels (www.longviewkennels.com) in Slatington, PA. I have a dog from Britt Haven and would also highly recommend them.
