Thanks to everyone! Victor did bounce back better than last week when he had his biopsy. I hope we don't have to go through that again.
It is amazing how many people say 'oh yes, my dog had that too... no big deal'. I had never heard of it before.

Epulis removed
Victor is home after having an epulis removed from this upper jaw, just behind the canine. The mass was less than 5 cm, all in the soft palate - although it looked bigger than that to me. No teeth were lost and the biopsy showed it was benign. He's one sleepy, staggering pup right now but he'll slee...

Re: Rally Excellent!
Next is TRACKING!!! assuming I can find a group to work with. If not then we'll work toward the RAE title.

Re: Rally Excellent!
We had 2 chances on Saturday for the CD title. We got the first one. Heeling was nearly perfect. Stand for exam was perfect. Victor went into heel position on the recall instead of sitting in front. But the sit was perfect! And we got our 2nd CD leg. 5 hours later, in 85 degrees, and Victor had even...

Re: Rally Excellent!
Thanks! We are back at it today - trying for CD legs. And apparently the leg only bothers him in a sit in the competition ring. After we came home, Victor SAT [not laying down, not standing] on the deck watching for birds and bunnies for at least 10 minutes. Guess it's all about motivation and focus...

Rally Excellent!
Victor got his Rally Excellent title today!!! :D Even though he had a biopsy for a growth on the roof of his mouth on Monday and has a swollen front leg from a bee sting/spider bite from Wednesday, my Brittany boy was willing to endure an obedience trial today. We tried for another CD qualifying run...

Re: Lost a tooth?
Victor is gnawing on a soup bone today so apparently he feels no pain! The swelling is down a bit and most of the redness is gone. Fortunately the cooler weather here has kept the bees away from the house. And the tire will not arrive at our dealership until Monday afternoon. Not liking the 'run fla...

Love the videos! What a good girl Daisy is & she can compete with different handlers! That's one 'can-do' kinda dog.

Re: Hide-and-go-sock
Socks - Victor's favorite way to say 'It's time for a treat!' When the house is too quiet for Victor, he'll go missing and then we hear the sound of heavy paws running thru the house - any other time Victor is very quiet. But we know that he has a sock and it's time for his treat. He's trained DH ve...

Re: Lost a tooth?
Thanks. I was thinking the 'wait and see' approach was a good way to go. Benadryl tends to make him hyper and he doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all. He still eats and plays with both hard and soft toys as if nothing is wrong.

Re: Lost a tooth?
A nose in a hornet's nest?! That would be painful.
Should I be concerned if Victor's gums are still swollen? It's been 2 days. I don't see any stinger in his mouth.

Re: Lost a tooth?
Victor hates anything that buzzes. He bites them just so they don't get his butt - it can be very entertaining to watch him chase a non-bee insect while he checks his butt to be sure he's ok - and then go back to chasing! Staying home til Monday because that's the earliest that a replacement tire is...

Lost a tooth?
When playing tug with Victor tonight, I noticed what I thought was a gap in his upper front teeth. 'Did you lose a tooth?' I ask :?: "No, Mom, I bit a bee and my gum is swollen over my tooth." Really? Does this dog have to give me high blood pressure every day!!!! Then, wanted to go to the lo...

Re: Playing going too far?
Victor and his Lab girlfriend play like that all the time. She met Victor when she was just 8 weeks old and he has always kept her in line. She is VERY good at reading other dog's behaviors and knows when to play and when to back off. The Lab is one of the few dogs that I have no concern about when ...

Re: Well, clean run mag won't be contacting me soon..
Sometimes people just forget that agility is a game and the dog only steps onto the course because they are asked to. Recently my agility circle has lost 2 dogs at young ages. So painful for them and a painful reminder for the rest of us - we don't know how long we have with our buddies. Rough handl...
