Thanks so much! I'll check them out and let you know if I'm successful at teaching Victor.

I'd be interested in more information about any of these training methods. Victor has been through basic obedience classes and is currently in agility training. The concept of walking on a loose leash would be very beneficial. We also visit as a pet therapy team and it's a constant struggle to walk ...

Oh, you bet we're on lead! Otherwise I'd be out there playing on the obstacles myself, plus there's a Jack Russell with issues, a German Shepherd with issues, and a lab with issues in the class. But not Victor - he's everybody's new best friend and he wants to get to know all of them. At our last cl...

Angie,
My heart goes out to you. I found Petloss.com for a support group.

Sometimes a gentle sleep is the only answer to an impossible question.

Bully is exactly what he is. When Angel has had enough - she'll 'go after' him and he runs like the wind. Of course he runs right back and barks louder and gets closer and closer and bumps her and barks louder. That's when we stop it because either Angel starts to slink away or Victor nips Angel in ...

So I'm not the only one with a Britt that plays too rough. Victor (Britt) is almost 2 years old. Angel (Lab) is almost 14 years old. They never really worked out who is dominant. I think Victor would like to be the boss - but he is way too rough to see what would happen. We tried to let them work it...

That's my problem - when he's distracted in the agility class - nothing really motivates him. He's too busy looking at everyone else. He doesn't want his toy (whether it's his tug, squeaker, or ball); he wants the other dog's toy. I'm hoping to do the restrain/release at home with week. Maybe he'll ...

By not feeding Victor all day - food is a good motivator. What the instructor wants to see is a strong stay with a burst (from being excited by a toy or my verbal encouragement) toward me when I give the release command. Food isn't that strong of a motivator for him. Right now I'm getting a casual t...

First, thanks for the tips on different treats. Although DH hates the smell of canned dog food drying in the oven Victor stands in front of the oven barking for a treat! The new treats really got Victor's attention at agility last night. Here's the question that will get a few of you laughing.... Wh...

I sure did see Victor's picture! Hope it helps someone decide to adopt a Brittany

Did Miya do the 'frog dog' thing when she laid down? (back legs kicked out like a frog) People think that's just the cutest thing Victor does other than wag his little nubby tail.

Congratulations on a successful weekend! Your table display is quite impressive. Although Britts are great hunters, people need to know they are also wonderful companion dogs (agility, rally, therapy). Victor and I had our 2nd agility lesson last night. We're making progress but it is going to be a ...

Tried several of the suggestions for alternative treats for Victor. 1. Shrimp - He doesn't like it. I think it might be the texture - too much like his toys. Oh, he'll rip them apart but doesn't swallow the pieces. 2. Bananas - He likes it! I'll see if they are a motivator for him or just a snack. 3...

Guess what we had in OUR cupboard (Peter Pan brand) - opened and partially consumed. No one has been sick - thankfully.

ConAgra will send a refund of you return the lid with your name and address to their address as shown on the side of the jar.

Baking the canned dog food is a great idea!

I also found salmon training treats at CleanRun.com. They are soft and tiny so I think they will work also. Gotta have variety!

Thanks so much.
