Re: Velcro dog!
Count your blessings with a velcro dog!!! Victor would gladly run off at any given moment. He'd check back in an hour or so, but you wouldn't see him in the mean time. He will run agility with anyone. He'll walk away with anyone on the other end of the leash just checking back once to see if...

Re: oH joY (photo show)
Very cute! But I really think the O/W in the candy cane tie has a look of 'you are so going to pay for this' in every photo! :D I took one picture of Victor in antlers while at the agility trial and he looks totally mortified - 'o Mom, really, here where all the other dogs can see me?' :( Me...

Re: ABR Raffle Christmas Basket
Keeping it away from the pups must have been tough. Victor sniffs out his gifts and 'woofs' at whatever door they are hidden behind!
Looks like a Merry Christmas for your furkids!

Re: Dog Walk Contact Issue?
I use a command to mark the behavior. [Having already taught Victor to touch my hand when I said 'Touch', I had to switch to 'two' as the 2o/2o behavior (others use 'Spot', 'Hit It', 'Stick'] So, I have the touch board on the floor. I lured him across to the end of the board until he was 2o/2o and t...

Re: Bragging...
Thanks for the congrats! Victor is a great rescue dog story. Not only is he really very consistent in agility, but he is so good at these crazy trials with dogs snarking in their crates, barking and running crazy in the ring, and the grueling time schedules [up at 4AM, back to the hotel at 8PM]. He ...

We just returned from the Cleveland Crown Classic, a 4-day show. We ran 10 times and qualified in 6 of them, getting one double Q. That's a huge improvement over our previous performances. :D We need just 5 more qualifying runs in FAST to earn our Master FAST title. We're halfway to the Master Agili...

Re: Dog Walk Contact Issue?
Clicker works for Victor's contacts. I MUST have the option of a 2on/2off contact. So I train that and in a trial, release before an actual 2o/2o if I don't need to cross. I used a touch board in the early training days to work his contacts. I still train contacts wherever I can, therapy visits, vet...

Re: Cue-ing Obstacles
Yup - if you're out of breath when you finish a run - you're probably talking too much!
The less I talk and the quieter I am when I do speak, the better the results.
So, why can I not just SHUT UP???!!! [no reply necessary]

Re: Cue-ing Obstacles
Cueing every obstacle is usually unnecessary for Victor, but I've become a bit frantic on-course and talk too much. Victor will take the obstacles my body is moving toward [note: not always the next obstacle in the course :( ] unless he's 'locked onto' the next 3 obstacles, then it's pretty tough to...

Re: Victor wants a new handler...
I used to do that until we were disqualified when Victor hacked up the last 6 treats I gave him before going into the ring... on the table.I make sure that he's chewing a treat as we walk in to the ring.

Re: Victor wants a new handler...
Thanks so much for my 'chuckle for the day'! Victor doesn't get off-leash unless he's in at least a 5-foot fenced enclosure. He was a runner/stray when adopted and has not outgrown it. When I did have him in an enclosure with agility equipment, it was a struggle to get his attention. But, I'm told i...
