Ruby IS the Christmas Present this year

It has been an expensive few weeks for Ruby - last month she had bloat, surgery and recovered :) This Sunday night past we came home and she was bleeding out of her mouth. We did a once over and determined her gum was bleeding pretty good from one of her front canines. We had been watching it for a ...

Re: Gastric Torsion in 11yr old brit

Hi All Thanks so much for sending us good thoughts it definitely helped. Ruby did get released Saturday night. She wasn't eating at the vets (very strange for this brittany) and the vet wanted to try her at home. We fed her special wet food when she got home and she kept it down. All her bodily func...

Re: I didn't do anything!

I don't have a picture - but Jack did the same thing. I came home, Jack was in the very front of his crate and the rest of the crate behind him was full of fuzz. He has finally graduated to getting a blanket in his crate and has gone a whole 1.5 yrs with only 4 little holes in it.

Gastric Torsion in 11yr old brit

Well, it has been quite a roller coaster of a day. Our 11 year old Ruby woke me up this morning whine-ing. When me, the two dogs and our 5 week old baby finally did roll out of bed I noticed she had had a BM on the carpet which is really unusual. In the next hour or so I noticed she was actin...

Re: Lil Rusty

I'll have to show Jack this picture - he tried to fit in the laundry basket a couple of months ago. He couldn't get comfortable every time he turned around his bum hit a side and he figured that it was too small for him :D

Re: Aggressive Puppy - help!

Yep - that sounds like our Jack when he was little. He got the zoomies twice a day and sometimes we couldn't predict when it was going to happen. I had several ripped pairs of pants, and had many scratches on my arms during that phase - the teeth are super sharp and he didn't let go. We tried a few ...

Re: Change in behaviour - Crating (long post)

Well we are making some progress. She is now going into her crate to get fed or for her morning kong. Bedtime is still not working but I am hoping that will come along too. We moved the crates to a new location and have been doing clicker training to reward her for going into the crates. Ruby still ...

Re: Change in behaviour - Crating (long post)

We are definitely going to take all this information in and try and work it out. They both have plastic crates that they use 99% of time, although we tried her in a collapsable mesh one this weekend in a different location and still the same result. I think we will try putting her in Jack's crate fo...

Change in behaviour - Crating (long post)

Ruby is our 11 year brittany spaniel. She has been with us for 1.5 years. She is very food motivated and generally a very happy/perky dog. In July we were very busy for the first couple of weeks and Ruby and Jack (our 3 year old brit) probably got less attention and less walks. My stress level was h...

Re: Canadian National Specialty Show for Brittany Spaniels

We are excited - the judging schedule came out and there are 31 brittanies entered for the specialty and between 12-20 per day for the regular show. It will be fun to see all the brittany freckles!

Re: Coughing / funny breathing

So we took Jack in, but there are no signs of distress, temp normal and physical exam was normal.

I guess will wait another week and see if anything else changes or the hack/cough goes away. It's hard to figure since it is intermittent. Our other dogs is showing now signs of the same symptom.

Coughing / funny breathing

Hi My 3 year old male Jack is doing a weird thing over the last 4-5 days. Out of the blue he will do a kind of hacking up sound/ weird breathing thing. It's is like it is trying to cough something up. I didn't pay attention to it the first couple of days since he sometimes has that reverse sneezing ...
