Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
We picked up the ashes yesterday, for now in a temp urn on the mantle. We will get a more proper one when it feels right. I'm just letting things be what they are in terms of the tears that overwhelm me at times. Each day gets a little easier, and it felt right and peaceful to place his ashes where ...

Re: Brittany pees in same place EVERYNIGHT with 1 drop of poo!!
I think Rose is onto something. One of my friends had a Shar-Pei who went almost everyplace with her. When Cyd had to stay home, she would leave a strongly worded opinion on the floor. That was the only time she went in the house. So my friend just started putting the pad down, Cyd would express her...

Believe it or not, deer get really testy, too. We were chased down a trail by one who was stamping her feet and snorting at us.

Re: Senior with rear legs collapsing
Oh, Carol...get the pooch checked out. NOW. It could just be arthritis and not wanting to eat, or it could be neurological. If it's arthritis, you have a lot of options, both natural such as glucosamine/chondroiten/MSM and pharmasuticals. If it's neurological, you and your vet can choose the best op...

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Update: Orion made his crossing sometime during the predawn hours. He started crashing late afternoon. We called the vet's office and since he was in no pain or distress to let him finish things out on his terms. I stayed on the floor with him, and made an altar in the kitchen with lavender candles,...

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Update: Orion went to the vet this morning. He's on sub-q fluids, Gastrocalm for his tummy, and a che-wa-wa sized dose of Tramadol--the vet thinks he's having pain in his hips, making it harder to stand and impacting his appetite as well. He perked up during the infusion--suddenly raised his head, a...

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Well...I was able to get some rice down him, and I'm alternating between chicken broth, honey water, and mint and ginger tea, all cold. He's on Pepcid, too. He didn't have any yellow barf yesterday or today, but he had some diarrhea at 2 this morning. We spoke with an animal communicator yesterday. ...

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Update: Orion's been drinking ok, but is turning up his nose at food. This is scaring me because he can't take the antibiotics without food in his tummy. He's comfortable, apparantely, but needs help getting up and down. Please continue the prayers.

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Update: Orion pushed himself too hard on a walk yesterday. He was really sore and had problems with stairs yesterday. He ate pretty well--a good dinner of ground turkey and a couple of bites of banana. He had diarrhea last night adn ralfed up some yellow stuff this morning and wanted to sit quietly ...

Re: Natural Remedies for Immune System Support
Some herbs that might help: astralagus (immune system modulator), red clover (blood purifier), and milk thistle (helps to clean out the liver very gently). I've used those on Orion. Topically, try dabbing on lavender oil--great antiseptic. Smells good, too. Don't forget to put some on yourself, too,...

Orion's one of the bigger dudes--about 21" at the shoulder, and looks and does best in the 45-50 lb. range
