Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Yes. We just got back. Thanks to all the thinkers of good thoughts! Not quite time for the Munchkins, but close. 8) One of the glands has gone down. The other hasn't changed size, so the good doc feels encouraged. He's taking a few days off from the meds to give his body a rest, then we're going to ...

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Update: Orion finished his second course of antibiotics last Thursday. He's been walking me at least 2.5 miles/day, and took me jogging yesterday against my will in hot pursuit of a squirrel. He's been helping in the kitchen and following me around the house again. He's making most of his usual soun...

Re: Tell me I'm doing the right thing
8) Nothing like good news on a Monday! When my mother in law had her knee replaced, she said that the incisions hurt, but she felt so much better that she was tooling around as soon as the anesthetic wore off. Looks like it's the same drill for Ms. Lola. The neat trick will be keeping her from overd...

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Update: we did the followup visit today. Orion's glands are still too swollen--we chose not to do a second biopsy. He's on another round of Clavamox (the anti-anti med). But we had a nice drag--er--walk; he's eating, engaged, and acting like a Brit. I've put him on milk thistle and red clover (liver...

Re: Antihistamine question
Have you talked to your vet about Claritin? I tried Orion on it, but the problem is that they use cornstarch as the base in the tablets. He didn't itch, but the corn caused g.i. symptoms.

Re: Song for an ABR slide show
I'm choking up again--in a good way, this time. I wish that I'd written that for Orion.

I love Patricia's column in BARK--she did one on aging dogs a couple months ago that made me laugh.

:D 8) :P :o :D :) 8) And now, we give thanks and praise: The vet called. CBC well within normal ranges, save for the white cell count, and the biopsy was inconclusive because of the inflammation. However, the cells from the lump showed no sign of clumping together as they do when evil forces a...

Re: Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
Thanks, everyone! I also put in prayer requests on a couple of lists that I use and one on Facebook. I came here as quickly as possible after I shot emails to several friends of various spiritual traditions. This board has pulled off a lot of miracles and there's no reason to think we don't have ano...

Invoke the Dog Goddess, please
I was scratching Orion's chin and ears when I noticed a lump under his left one. Thought it might be from a deep ear infection or a tooth. We went to the vet's. Neither. We did touch on the unspeakable--if it is that, we will put the emphasis on quality of life, not quantity. The blood work and biop...

He's a Brittany--he can't help it
Yes, another post about my arthritic 13 y.o. Orion with the grade 4 heart murmur. Goofy mutt just took me on the jog of my life. Orion and I were outside. He rolled in the grass and popped the snap bolt on his tie out line. He took off after something intriguing. I followed, calling to him. Caught u...
