I'm soo sorry you had to go through this. At least she knew what real love was like when she was with you. As another wrote, euthanasia isn't always the worst option. She could have ended up in a cage for the rest of her life at some "sanctuary". Now she's happy over the rainbow bridge.

At first there were no signals, then she tried to go "somewhere" by herself...now at 7 months, I've taught her to ring the bells. If she's gated with me, she'll go to the gate and just sit then look back at me. If she can get to the bells she'll ring them with her nose. She's housetrained now (finge...

Lisa - can you explain how to use the clicker for retrieiving...I get the general idea of clicker training, but I'm not sure where to click for retrieving..

Thanks for all of the other suggestions!

I know this will sound silly to some, but where can I get a pheasant wing or bird scent. I'm not from a family of hunters.

Thanks for the tips, I am working on giving her a reward when she brings back the tennis ball.

I have not tried a dead chicken, but hiding from her might work. I do teach her tricks and take her for walks, etc., she also has a kong that she enjoys..

Hopefully I can teach her to do this...

Fetch/Retrieve

I'm trying to get Daisy to Fetch/Retrieve and we're really not getting there. Anyone have any thoughts or methods that have worked. So far, no interest in tennis balls or frisbees. Just plush toys. I've tried working with her to retrieve with plush and she'll do it once or twice and that's it. I was...

Digging

Help - I can't get Daisy to stop Digging??? I just put in a new fence for her and there is a lot soft dirt around the perimeter that she likes to dig up. I've tried distracting her and telling her no dig, but that is NOT working? She just goes right back, sometimes the only way I can stop it is to p...

I do handle her regularly and have since I got her. I really think she just didn't want to get off the couch and was trying to test me to see if I'd let her stay there if she protested....wrong!

I've grabbed her collar before, picked her up, held her on my lap, clipped her nails, no issues.

7 month old Brittany

Some background info on Daisy Mae She was a rescue who supposedly came from a breeder who couldn't sell her. I adopted her when she was just about 4 mo. Had her 3 months. Life with her is generally good. Haven't had any other "problems" with her other than nipping at clothes and chasing the cats. Wh...

I'd agree with you on the fact that I don't think she was really trying to threaten me, but I like to nip any potential behavioral issues in the bud before they escalate. Can you give a little more explaination on "not" punishing a growl. Do you mean that I shouldn't physically punish her, or not ev...

My 7 month old Brittany Growled at me

She started to get zoomies saw the cat on the couch and jumped up there and tried to play with her, I intervened and gra...
