Re: calming biscuits

I didn't really learn anything, and I'm not sure if that is good or bad. He found nothing wrong during his exam. He did mention that she has a "grade 3" heart murmur, but said it's nothing to worry about (yet, at least) and wouldn't be causing this issue. He also noticed the start of cataracts. Agai...

Re: calming biscuits

Same thing. Started the panting and clinging behavior around 6:30pm. I was able to make an appointment for her at 4:45 today. Not the vet we usually see (she is off on Mondays, but it's at the same vet clinic) but I didn't want to wait any longer. I hope he'll know if it's a behavior issue or a pain...

Re: calming biscuits

I guess I'll be calling the vet tomorrow to set up an appointment for this week. We kept Emma on a leash yesterday except when my husband was outside to keep an eye on her. He even took her out to the sportsmen s club for a good run. I was keeping a close eye on her in the evening during her "bewitc...

Re: O...M...G. What next?!!!

Yes, we thought the same thing, but still not sure why she would act this way. My husband is going to try to find the deer today when he gets back from hunting. He is guessing it might be a deer that someone shot and then couldn't find, or maybe one that got hit by a car, ran off and then died. Ther...

Re: calming biscuits

I will definitely start keeping track of these episodes. It happened 2 days in a row, but each time, it only happened late evening. Her appetite has been the same and her energy level has been the same. I'm curious to see if she does it tonight since we will be keeping her on a leash when she goes o...

O...M...G. What next?!!!

Got home from work this evening and ran the dogs out to pee (it was still daylight, so I let Emma run.) They're calling for snow and ice this weekend, so I decided I'd gather up a box of kindling to start the woodstove. I took Sam back in the house, ran down to the basement to grab a box, came back ...

Re: calming biscuits

Cindy, I'm curious. It says to use these before thunderstorms, trips to the vet, etc. I wonder if they work AFTER a dog has become agitated? Lately, Emma has been having episodes now and then where, if she were a person, I might think she was having an anxiety attack. It happened yesterday evening a...

calming biscuits

Does anyone know if Drs Foster & Smith still has those calming biscuits? I had ordered some last year. I'd like to get more, but I'm not seeing them on their website.

How heartbreaking. I am so sorry to hear this. I know all too well the pain of losing a dog much too soon.

Re: pointing

In addition to pointing at the freezer bc his frozen bones are there, JJ loves ice cubes, so another reason to point at the freezer  He is a very smart boy and knows where the good stuff is   Sounds like we have something in common. If there is Ben & Jerry's in the freezer, I will po...

Re: pointing

You can't take the pointer out of the dog, can you?!!! When Maggie was a puppy, she used to always point at butterflies and bumble bees....anything fluttering in the air! But, she never pointed at anything in the house. Emma never did, either, but she sure did stare at that squirrel painting in the ...

You are truly missing out on the pleasures of sleeping with a Brittany every night! We used to have 3 of them all pile on our queen sized bed! It was sometimes hard to move around, but I wouldn't change anything for the world!

Sage is beautiful! Yes, there is never a dull moment with a brittany. Our 9 year old "puppy" still gets into trouble from time to time! Good thing they are so cute and we can't stay mad for long! I look forward to hearing more stories about Sage.

Re: you know what I miss?

It was in the fall. I don't know how much money was raised, but from what I remember, it wasn't enough to make it worthwhile after paying the cost of shipping all the items (that, and it was a LOT of work!) But, I know other rescue groups do it each year. I know we didn't charge for shipping, and it...
