Do you keep your dog on probiotics all the time??? Aren't they okay naturally without them? I just figured it was for use while on antibiotics since they frequently give dogs and humans diarrhea.

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH

Yes, a week from today, I'm leaving Wesley for the first time....for a week. My two older dogs are going to the neighbors who they love but Wesley isn't ready for that kind of independence. He still chews inappropriate things in his path (all things in his path) and requires electronics on walks whi...

Probiotic Question

This week, I found a small mass inbetween two toes on Wesley's front paw. Despite NIGHTLY paw checks due to excessive cacti and cheat grass (little seeds with one way barbs that get in between their toes) I must have missed a cactus spine that had broken off in his paw. He had to undergo sedation in...

Re: Moving Rosie?

One thought is to fly her to a large city that doesn't have such tight restrictions like Denver or Salt Lake. You could rendezvous and pick her up (or arrange a pick up) and then drive her the rest of the way through the desert. ABR might be able to help you coordinate a smaller road transport....sa...

Re: Angry and embarrassed rant

Don't stop walking there just because of this idiot. It's not fair for you to lose your favorite spot due to someone elses poor behavior. I have my favorite public trails and I have a right to use them ! I've definitely had my troubles with dogs and dog owners but have held strong. The worst was a h...

You can also look under the Hunting/Agility forum at the posts of "My Brittany Won't Point....Any Suggestions" We deviate from the pointing issue to the loading a photo issue. Even with the instructions, I was having troubles and kept getting tips from folks. I finally got it figured out.

Re: dog parks..

Our dog park allows intact males. My rule of thumb is avoidance. I don't think you can train a dog to avoid them. Whenever we see a medium or large breed intact male dog, we leave. I have noticed that I'm not the only one rounding up my dogs and leaving. Do you think the owner of the intact dog noti...

Re: A bothersome itch

Man, I considered anal glands but thought EVERYONE would think I was crazy. The same thing happened to Moby. He didn't scootch on the floor or anything when his flaired up. In fact, he would just stand there and look at his tail, twenty times a day. I finally went to the vet with my only comp...

Re: A Shelter Dogs Poem - Tissue Alert

Tissue alert was right  That was a great poem. After reading it, I looked down at my rescue dog, Wes, whom I've had for 12 weeks yesterday. He's snoozing, peacefully, at my feet. He's so sweet and funny.....it's hard to believe that he was neglected. Thanks for sharing the poem. :)

Re: PJ not feeling well

Metronidazole is the generic name for Flagyl which is the anti-microbial that Moby was put on for both Giarrdia and his overgrowth of C-diff (the c-diff got worse once the first round of Flagyl killed a portion of the Giarrdia). Anyway, it's great for many types of microbes so it should help. If you...

Re: PJ not feeling well

Moby had a bad case of Giarrdia mixed with an overgrowth of C-diff a couple years ago. It took two rounds of Flagyl (4 weeks total) to clear it up. He will probably carry the bacteria forever so I always watch his stools for diarrhea. I'm not saying your dog doesn't have Giarrdia but I do know that ...
