Re: Brittany Brag - Dogs and Cats

Congrats !!!! :D My cat, Cecil, is 19 years old and while he did fine with my older dogs, Wesley is really testing his patience. Wesley keeps trying to chew on him like a squeeky toy and thinks it's a game when Cecil hisses and swipes at him. (Yes, Cecil has all his claws). Wes will learn the ...

Re: Calming aids for hyper puppy when traveling

I'll pick some up before the fourth of July. How long does it take to work?? I assume that the box tells you how many you can give etc. ??

Re: How much protein...?

Well, for breakfast I put 1/2 cup of the old chow and 1/4 cup of TOTW mixed with some salmon. Moby, who my vet and I call borderline anorexic because he picks at his food and never finishes a bowl, ate all of the salmon and TOTW. He actually separated the two chows and left the old stuff. Soooo, thi...

Re: Calming aids for hyper puppy when traveling

Do these work for fireworks???...as far as making them sleepy goes??? The neighbors shot off fireworks over Memorial Day and it spun everyone up at 11:30 at night. Doesn't make me very excited for July 4th...my least favorite holiday. I don't have a basement to hide out in with the dogs so it's alwa...

Re: How much protein...?

I've been buying Blackwood Dog chow over the Internet but have decided to try and purchase something here vs. getting low on chow and not knowing what day it's going to show up. (of course, I could just plan better but sometimes that doesn't work). Moby has had loose stools and giarrdia in the past ...

Re: Polar Opposites

They're getting there. Moby probably would have done better with a girl dog but compared to week 1 when he was growling and not sharing the bed or toys with Wes, they are now co-existing quite nicely and sometimes almost playing. He also isn't phased with having to share the bed. It's a start.

Polar Opposites

It rarely rains here and when it does it usually only rains for 2 hours. Not enough to soak the ground much. Of course, because it's a holiday weekend, it has rained for most of the 3 days. This morning, there was a break in the weather and I didn't have to work, so I took the dogs out for an hour h...

Re: How pitiful am I??????????

Well, I'm new to the board and I love checking it. It's the only board I've ever been interested in. I think it's just my love for Brittany's. I learn, I laugh and I do get to know the funny quirks of other people's dogs. So, you're not alone

Re: Suggestions on what to do with oldest blind dog

Yes, when I suggested leaving him at a friend's, that was assuming that Jake has been there numerous times and knows the place. For Chena, the neighbor's house is where she's stayed for years so it's no big change in her environment. She knows the dogs, the routine, the doggy door etc. If there isn'...

Re: Suggestions on what to do with oldest blind dog

This is a tough one. We're faced with the same issue with our 13 year old Blue Heeler who has horrific arthritis issues. We go grouse hunting in the high mountains every year and against our better judgement took Chena last fall. It was too hard on her. We cut all our hikes/hunts short and she even ...

Re: Keep the kids occupied ...

Dave, Your story is heart wrenching  I agree with Adele, the memories that that little boy will have just make me so sad. So many people have no business owning dogs or having kids but especially having both. Working in a trauma ER, I have so many sad stories but the bottom line is that it is t...
