Re: Yuck Yuck Yuck

I think it's hysterical    Though I understand how you would be grossed out. The things they do !! I remember when we were out camping and Moby slinked into our tent and proceeded to throw up a rotten fish that he had eaten on the bank of the lake.....right IN my husband's sleeping ba...

Re: Do we have any Deaf ABR dogs?

Good suggestion, Nancy. I haven't thought of trying that. I'll certainly ponder it. Not sure what the old girl would think the first time that vibrates but since it's JUST a vibrate, I'm sure she'll look around !!! Thanks.

Re: Do we have any Deaf ABR dogs?

Yes, it has its advantages but disadvantages too ! My deaf 13 y/o dog doesn't hear commands which makes it tricky. Especially when she's on a trail and a mountain biker is coming. I can't call her to get out of the way   She knows hand signals but if I can't get her attention they don't do...

If I could tell you how perfect she was you all would not believe me Actually, there are many of us who absolutely, positively believe you and understand !! You're not alone. No, you can't replace her but when it's time, you can give your love to another. I'm sure you're exhausted from a day of gri...

Re: Its summertime. Lets get in shape!

Ohhh, in western Colorado, I have the dogs up (or do they have me up???) at 6AM and we're out the door by 6:30. Otherwise, I have to carry too much water to get them through an hour walk in the desert. The treadmill though.......I can't imagine that my dogs would stay on it without freaking out. I, ...

Re: A new owner .

I agree that you should wait until they are close to full grown before trail running any big distance with them. I also warn people about biking with their dogs because the pace is sooooo much faster. I'm an average runner which means that they are ahead of me smelling things and resting while I cat...

Re: New Food

I feed my dogs Blackwood 1000 which I buy over the Internet. I had read that dogs with Irritable Bowel / Chronic Diarrhea do well with it and so I started purchasing it after Moby suffered a 4 week bout with Giarrdia & C-diff overgrowth. He likes it but if anybody has any opinions on it, I'd be inte...

Re: A new owner .

While we hunt with our older Brit and plan to get our young one hunting, I think we actually only hunt 5-7 times a year. The other 360 days are spent hiking, backpacking, trail running etc. So, no, I definitely feel that hunting is absolutely not necessary....just activity !!

Re: Wesley Snapped !!!!

Well, I let him run free in the desert for an hour this morning and my little angel boy is back.....Mr. Mellow. The other two dogs have seemed to forgiven him for tormenting them all evening. Oh, and all three seem to be thrilled with the new screen "dog door" in the living room....it provides them ...

Re: Wesley Snapped !!!!

He's closed his eyes for two seconds so I'm back on line. I decided that I either needed a glass of wine or to find someone in the phone book who does exorcisms.....I opted for wine. After my last post, he spent 30 minutes trying to steel the pink octopus from Moby.....that's THE sacred toy. I have ...

Wesley Snapped !!!!

Oh my, So, we've had Wesley for 9 weeks tomorrow and he's been soooo mellow. A chewer and playful but overall, in the evening "settles" nicely with minimal "parental control". I'm the one who drove from western Colorado to Las Vegas to pick him up so he met me first and bonded quite nicely. In fact,...
