Re: Sammy is getting old
I'm so sorry. I have been there more times than I care to remember. They all seem to have eating issues with age though Moby was the worst with his megesophagus. Softer food might help. We seem to feed less and less chow when they get older. 15 though !!!!! Lucky you. Never had one hit that age. Mob...

Peetie's First Bird Hunt
We have been working with Peetie every day and I must say that she is AMAZING and that we are LUCKY !!!! She is so focused on being close to us (read velcro dog) that she doesn't really wander too far away. We took her on a 4 day camping trip in the mountains this week. I was nervous at first and so...

Re: dogs teach me
That's a great story. No one wants to adopt out a dog into an environment where they are going to fail. ABR is wonderful that way. I'm glad that it was a win-win situation in the end.
Re: flooding
I just can't believe what I'm seeing on TV. I'm thinking of everyone too. Please stay safe. This just breaks my heart.

Camping and "The Tail"
Peetie is doing fantastic as we end week 3 with her. She obviously has some previous training in the field as she hunts pretty close. We have been working with her every day and she is getting solid fast. She is already off leash/lead wearing only an e-collar and a GPS collar. She comes to the whist...

Re: Meet Sweetie Peetie !!!!!
Hmm - the tail - let me know how that works out for you. Whenever friends visit with their dogs who have tails, my coffee table is immediately swept clean and at least one wine glass gets dumped at some point   She is beautiful though. Oh I know !!!! My husband was NOT sold on having a do...

Meet Sweetie Peetie !!!!!
So, we were down to just 1 Brittany   and apparently, there wasn't enough Brittany energy in the house to sustain us.  Wes is pretty mellow and Beamer just filled the room. We really missed that. So, we started looking at the ABR website, which can be dangerous. I also do ...

Re: learning from each other
Beamer was an ice cube junkie. Wes never learned. It was a hoot though. Especially when we were trying to pack a cooler for a road trip and we'd find Beamer with his head in it stealing out precious ice cubes.

My Beamer
I didn't realize that I never posted about Beamer until I mentioned him and some of you commented that you hadn't realized that he had passed. It's been a crazy 2 years. We had Moby, Wesley and Sheppy. Sheppy passed away in late May of 2015 after a 9 month battle of renal failure. We then adopted ou...

Re: Teddy & The Bell
Since we have a dog door, we don't have this problem. Ours is another issue. All our dogs have gone outside at will using the dog door. For some unknown reason, Beamer didn't like to come inside via the dog door. He would stand outside and scratch the door waiting for us to get up and open it. We co...

Re: dogs hibernating
I guess we are lucky here in Colorado. Yes, it gets unbearably hot in the day (by 11:00 or so) but the mornings are cool. After coffee and the paper, one of takes Wes to the local park. It is a 2 mile long park that has 2 walking trails. One goes along the Colorado River and one goes along a canal. ...

http://i.imgur.com/0kb6qgd.jpg Here's another of my favorites. Auntie Mom pulled my Sheppy Shu from a kill shelter in Nebraska and Kat met her 1/2 way between Omaha and Denver. Kat then kept him for me while I visited family in Seattle for the holidays. They did the transport the Saturday before Ch...
