Re: Spider-Charm
Come on Lisa - please make us all feel better by telling us that Charm really has fuzzy/wavy/cowlicky hair that sticks out in all directions, her ears make her look like a clown, and most of the time she's dirty from rolling around in the wrong places. Our dogs would all look that great if we took ...

Re: Spider-Charm
Ahhhhh blow-drying must be the key. Lola's fur is so wild... points out in all different directions. But there ain't no way I'm going to blow-dry it straight - especially these days are so hot - she's wet and muddy every single day. I guess we'll stick with the totally uncared for look. You can als...

Re: Spider-Charm
Charm is just beautiful. Do you trim her fur or is she naturally like that? She is just lovely. Thanks! I wish the danged judges would agree with you just one more time! (she just needs one "major" win for her championship). At the moment, we're in the midst of several consecutive weekends of shows...

Spider-Charm
I've been working on this trick for a while with Charm. I got stuck and gave up for a while, but I recently got some help from a friend and managed to finish training the trick. I use this for agility - teaches rear end awareness, helps build core strength, helps with jumping, and helps with her 2 o...

Re: New Brit owner!
I prefer "independent" to "willful" :D Britts are all about what's in it for them, so you have to make behaving more rewarding than not behaving. And, sometimes, they just decide to misbehave when you aren't looking. Britts are smart dogs, problem solver, so they do tend to get in trouble. Your pup ...

Re: ABC Summer Specialty Agility Trial in OK
Thanks Cindy! Charm really is a blast. She just seems to enjoy life and everything she does. She makes me smile every day. Once she decides to really focus on agility, she's gonna be amazing. Just for fun, here's her very first ever agility trial, first run. Yeah, definitely not a Q :) https://vimeo...

Re: Advice - independent puppy at 5m
Welcome to the board!!! Long reply, because I wanted to try to address all your points! After getting past piranha phase, Dallas is still prone to nipping whenever his excitement levels reach a tipping point - usually when something novel appears (including when we walk in the door or let him out of...

ABC Summer Specialty Agility Trial in OK
I just got home from the ABC Summer Specialty in Oklahoma City, OK. As part of the specialty, the Indian Nations Brittany Club hosted a one day Brittany only agility trial. Since it was such a small trial, we did two trials in one day! I had a great time, and got to see some of the top agility Britt...

Re: Cats and Dogs
I have a friend with cats (I'm allergic, so no kitties here). She watched one of my fosters for me for a while, and her cat had Kipling well trained. He was terrified of her cat and the cat was perfectly happy with that arrangement. If he wouldn't go in his crate, the cat would chase him in. While K...

Re: Change in behavior
I'd be inclined to think Urinary Tract Infection or Bladder infection - have her checked by a vet. They should do a urine culture. If it's an infection, antibiotics will clear it up. If it's not any kind of infection, and medical test rule out anything else (diabetes, cushings, etc), then I'd treat ...

Re: Good travel crate for brittany?
In the car, my boy uses a 30" plastic crate. Yeah, it's a little short for him, he can't stretch out, but it fits best in the car and he has room in there. If you want a really solid, safe crate, and are willing to shell out the bucks for it, I highly recommend the Ruff Tough Kennels in the Intermed...

Re: Question for those familiar with Brittanys
Deciding when to let a beloved pet go is often one of the hardest, most painful, most agonizing decisions that we, as pet owners have to make. I think that every single person that has to have their pet put down questions whether it was too soon or not soon enough. There's often not a black and whit...
