Re: All In Arizona: Good News and Bad News

From our understanding, they were taking one or only part of the thyroid or one side (as much as needed to remove the cancer) and that she would not need any medication to compensate going forward.

We'll have plenty more questions when we pick her up.

Re: All In Arizona: Good News and Bad News

Well Rosie was her usual charming self this A.M. at the surgeons office - shaking hands and high fiving the dctr. The vet/surgeon evaluated the tests and did a physical exam of Rosie and verified the same. No evidence of spreading and the mass was unattached but was now 5 cm in size. They removed th...

Re: All In Arizona: Good News and Bad News

Thanks Everyone. Rosie will be at the Vets for 830am AZ time but I am not sure when exactly they will do anything. I'll post an update probably Monday night. Once they go in, I am sure we'll get a better idea of where she stands. She is eating well and comfortable and had the ZOOMIES yesterday in th...

Re: All In Arizona: Good News and Bad News

Well unfortunately Rosie's tumor is cancerous.

We have the removal scheduled Monday and she'll stay overnight and then hopefully be home on Tuesday.

This is tough....

Re: All In Arizona: Good News and Bad News

Well, the tumor is 3.5 cm's and grown from the thyroid. The early indications of the biopsy is that it is "suspicious" for cancer but that will be determined by more lab work probably reported to us tomorrow. The tumor is not "attached" anywhere else and ultrasound showed no other growths in her lun...

All In Arizona: Good News and Bad News

Hi Everyone. Good News: I wanted to let everyone know that we all made it safe and sound to Safford, AZ. Patti, the Kids, and Rosie (in cargo) flew to Phoenix and all did fine. We are in our new home and almost completely upacked. Bad New: My nephew found a lump on the underside of Rosie's neck two ...

Wow this heat...

Geez, heat index here in New Orleans area is in the upper 100's (~110). It down right hard on Rosie. We let her out to roam yard and 10 minutes go by and she looks like shes ran a marathon. Its supposed to get hotter next week - yikes. Seems cooler in Safford, Arizona right now.... Ill be curious to...

Re: Moving Rosie?

Well DL, I must say I owe you a thank you and I owe myself a kick in the rear for not reading your post a week earlier. I was traveling last week and failed to see your suggestion about Continental. One of my wifes emails to some shipping companies led her to Continental. If I would have saw your po...

Re: Moving Rosie?

Thanks TG for the offer. We may actually have time to meet you, our first ABR member. Who knows, maybe our first ABR picnic. We actually drove to Mesa last week from Tucson, then across to Safford. Patti has an aunt there so we visited her for a few hours. We actually spent a few days in Safford for...

Re: Moving Rosie?

Well, it looks as though Continental Airlines does fly Pets/Cargo to Phoenix . They have special handlers and facilties in both Houston and Phoenix (flight would be from New Orleans to Houston to Phoenix) and would arrive at ~930pm. The lady handling the cargo inventory has a Brittany so she mention...

Re: Moving Rosie?

I realize that driving is a great option with respect to rosie but i will already be in arizone when it is time for patti and the kids and rosie to join me. I really do not want her driving all of that way with 2 kids and a dog by herself.

Re: Moving Rosie?

I understand what you meant regarding the weather - more or less the timing. I have been to Safford during non summer months and its very nice. 3 months of higher heat and 9 months of hiking bike riding snow scenery etc will be a welcomed change from 6 months of have bags packed during hurricane sea...
