Weirdo Pippa
We are on vacation in Portugal for 2 weeks and John's sister Nancy is staying at our house with the animals. Pippa knows her very well and really likes her but .... Our little couch potato apparently now wants to spend all her time outside!! The only time she comes in is when it rains or to eat and ...

Re: brushing teeth
I absolutely agree - that's been my experience too
and one of the reasons I love cats - they're independent thinkers.

Re: brushing teeth
Let me know what you find out as our cat always drinks from the dog's water dish! He absolutely refuses water from his own and he's 15 so too late to change him.

Re: brushing teeth
We can start a support group as I don't brush them either. Our girls get a bully stick to chew on several times/week. I think it helps but definitely not the answer. Pippa's teeth are much worse than Layla's as she's had to have them cleaned about every 3 years. Just like people ... some dogs...

Re: thanks Barb
Yes, I too appreciate all that you do Barb. I still find that the website doesn't work correctly on my end as the red highlighted posts never go away, even after I've read them. It's not a huge deal as I try to just glance at the dates but I'm probably missing some new posts. Computers!!! :ev...

Re: happy sunshine
Is St. Louis one of those areas that's been hit with all the rain? I sure hope not! It's definitely Spring time in VA and everything is starting to bloom. I wish I'd had my camera the other day when I found Pippa perfectly "nested" in a bunch of blooming daffodils. I'm not sure why she thought that ...

Re: Cindy's Layla
We could all learn a lesson from Layla--chill out, relax and enjoy the moment That is soooo funny because Layla is the least "chill" Brittany we've ever had! She's 11 years old now and still a bundle of energy from sun up to sun down. That being said, she DOES know how to enjoy the moment - every m...

Re: Will Winter Never End???
I feel for you! We haven't had a winter like that in a long time but we had to do the same thing - make tracks for the dogs to walk in because it was too deep for them to leap through. We are just dealing with copious amounts of rain (which started last May and hasn't ended) which means lots of mud ...

Re: A New Addition
I did some agility with Kayla when we first got her and really enjoyed it. The biggest problem I had was that she did NOT like waiting for the other "less intelligent" dogs :P and would go off on her own trying out the equipment. Entertaining from my perspective but not sure the instructor thought s...

Re: RIP Buster
I'm really sorry to hear this sad news Lisa. Buster was quite a dog and had such a great life with you. I'm sure he will be missed terribly and hope, as time goes by, the pain will be less and you'll be able to look at all the fun times. Would love to hear a "catch up" from you as it's been waaaaay ...

Re: computer problems
I haven't had any issues getting in the site but there's something wrong when clicking on new messages. Generally the icon is red if you haven't looked at it and turns gray after you have. All the icons are red on my computer regardless of whether I've viewed the message or not. Not a big deal - jus...

Re: Newly Adopted Brittany Behavior Concerns
I totally agree with the patience concept. Some dogs adjust very quickly and barely miss a step and it takes others a much longer time. When we adopted Annie it took 3 years before she'd let us rub her belly!! She never played with toys even though our other dogs did. Layla adjusted to the routine q...

Re: Pippa limping
You pretty much described the scene at our house ... We let the dogs out onto the deck and Layla take a quick right while Pippa turns left to run around the house and catch whatever is lurking out of sight. They are both running full tilt when they do this and there's no changing that habit (we've t...

Pippa limping
Pippa has been limping off and on since Christmas. I took her to the vet a week ago and she had a through exam. Nothing very evident at all so the vet "thought" it was in her shoulder. Sent us home with Novox to give her twice a day and a week later I see zero improvement. She can run like the wind ...
