Re: Can someone explain Sammy's behavior?

Well, to me it sounds like both of you just have to start party-ing! (It'll be a long drive for me so I'll crash at your places)

Re: Can someone explain Sammy's behavior?

Both my dogs are meek and scardy cats when I'm not around but when I am around both of them (Tramp especially!) can appear to be guarding me. I read somewhere (don't know if it was on this forum or in a book or mag.) that the dog feels it can act that way because it expects you to back him up. So he...

Re: running/biking age?

I had the same questions and confusion. I was told around 1.5 years old, once their skeleton fully ossifies. I was told the constant banging could cause microfractures that could affect the way the bones grow... so to wait until the bones had finished growing. I took it as truth and gave up running ...

Re: roans

Lola (not a roan) is nine and I've noticed a bit of white appearing in her face. She is still a beauty though.

Re: Trouble with salavary ducts?

The vet didn't mention anything about warm compresses. Lola has stitches so maybe damp isn't a good idea? I dunno, I'll ask her. I can't look at it. It's just so awful. Her pretty neck is shaved and pink with big purple frankenstein stitches and an a huge straw sticking out. I'm terrified she is goi...

Re: Trouble with salavary ducts?

Ya, the vet said she'd seen something like it with a quill. And once she said that she found a blade of grass that caused a big abcess in some dog's forehead... (couldn't figure out how a blade of grass got under the skin but it did). The thing the vet is worries about is that she couldn't find any ...

Trouble with salavary ducts?

Lola had a massive growth on her throat (big, about half the size of my fist!) on Sunday. She was fine the day before just suddenly bang there was this big growth. It started oozing on Wednesday. The vet has drained it but could not find any foreign body inside to account for it, nor could she find ...

Re: Fish Oil/Omega 3s

I give mine 2 tablets each day (one tablet is either 1300 or 1000 mg wild salmon oil depending on the brand I have on hand - They get 2/day regardless). Both brands recommended adult human dose is 4 or 5 tablets/day. So they're getting half the human does. My vet thinks 2 tablets per day is not too ...

So... that means your new pup is Rockets great-nephew. You'll still have some part of Rocket with you! I hope Jack appreciates having a new playmate. You know the drill, you must post pics.

Re: Rocket/Jack

I'm really very sorry. It's just so sad. I hope you and your family can be consoled somewhat by knowing that Rocket had a good life. He was happy. In the end that's all any of us can hope for.

Hmmmmm... I'd have to knock out a few walls but we don't really need all that space in the bedroom... A nice luxury bathroom to keep the dogs happy... now that's living!

Re: need help understanding vaccines

I had Tramp in yesterday and our vet is now doing in house titers! So we did that and she told me there was no need to vaccinate him this year. I was really pleased that they are doing the tests themselves now. (It was very expensive to send the blood away to have it tested). She's set it up so I ha...
