Re: You'll never guess where I am

I tried leaving them in the bathroom while I went to refill my coffee mug and Lola tried to dig a hole through the door. It does work pretty well. There were a couple of house shaking thunder claps and Lola would re-freak but she'd eventually settle again. I just need a bigger bathroom - maybe somet...

You'll never guess where I am

Lola has learned to be afraid of thunder storms (downside to daycare if you ask me) and very gradually she is teaching Tramp to be afraid of thunder storms (at least that is my interpretation of what's happening).... Anyway, we have a humdinger of a storm passing by right now. So I am writing to you...

Re: more Toby problems

I think Lola was at her most difficult from about 10 to 14 months or so.... (it's hard to remember now) so I don't think it is surprising that Toby is giving you grief now. If you stick with the training he will get better - I swear, just keep training and it gets good...... except, (well, with my d...

Re: My 3 1/2 month is eating EVERYTHING!

I'm not an expert. When my girl was a puppy she was either in her crate, tethered, or under my direct supervision. I'm serious... eyes on the puppy or she was restrained. It worked very well for training her. I never lost anything valuable to chewing. She did learn to go into my laundry and taunt me...

Well, it looks to me that if she doesn't get groomed in the next nine years she'll probably look just like Lola.

Re: Spider-Charm

Ahhhhh blow-drying must be the key. Lola's fur is so wild... points out in all different directions. But there ain't no way I'm going to blow-dry it straight - especially these days are so hot - she's wet and muddy every single day. I guess we'll stick with the totally uncared for look. I haven't do...

Re: Advice - independent puppy at 5m

Lisa covered it all so well. You just have to keep up the training and he'll eventually get it. Like you just noted, some days will be better than others, some worse. But just keep with the training and you'll have a great dog. There are lots of posts about demonic little puppies you can look up. Go...

Re: Toby, the destroyer

Oh dear. That's not good.... Well, .... sometimes you just have to laugh. Lola used to stay in a crate whenever we were out of the house. I think till she was about 2 or 3 years old. Then she decided she was old enough to be trusted. She let us know that she wasn't going be crated and that was that....

Re: Spider-Charm

Cool! That's an amazing trick.

Charm is just beautiful. Do you trim her fur or is she naturally like that? She is just lovely.

So, you gonna tell us how to teach the trick?

Re: New Brit owner!

I dunno. Willful isn't a word I would have used to describe my girl - but no two dogs are alike. There isn't much detail in your message but it sounds like maybe she needs some basic training... maybe. Have you taken her to obedience classes? Perhaps enroll in agility or Rally-O?

Re: We've Come a Long Way Baby !!!!

Wonderful that he came home safe and sound. He knows where home is and that is where he wants to be (after a little walkabout). Think of the worry you were saved by reading the message after his return. Still, give BIL a stern look from me :D

Re: Cats and Dogs

OH She'll definitly chase cats that run. She sends our neighbour's cats death threats in the mail... she'd like to chase the cats on the street that are afraid of her. But it's different with the kittens, they try to snuggle with her and she appears embarrassed. I think she knows them well enough no...

Re: Cats and Dogs

HaHa, If the cat didn't like dogs you'd have heard about it before you left the house! Lola just cracks me up around cats. She just loves them and doesn't know what to do with them. On morning walks she INSISTS we make a detour to pass in front of a certain cats house. She pulls and pulls really har...
