Re: Are Brittanys typically more "vocal"?
My current Brit, Cooper, is not vocal at all (and neither was our prior Brit, Max). Our Beagle/Brit mix, on the other hand, is very vocal. She whines to get your attention and definitely grumbles (not a growl -- just a little indication of discontent). Not sure which side of her genetics to blame it...

Cooper caught a snake
The dogs were out in the yard and all of a sudden I saw Cooper go running by with something in his mouth. It was either a black snake or water snake (best guess looking at a snake chart) and harmless, but yuk! I didn't find any bites on Cooper, so hopefully he didn't get bit. Reminded me of Barb's i...

Re: Lola and Tramp, Lola is being hateful
I don't have any solutions for you, but understand your feelings. Belle (Beagle/Brit mix, adopted 6 months after Cooper) is a brat -- if she wants my attention and I am petting Cooper, she bites at his ears or feet or barks at him. If we try and play tug with Cooper, she barks at him. Cooper is very...

Re: Spill proof water bowl
My Mom has this one (meant for food and water, but you could fill both bowls with water): http://www.neaterfeeder.com/size-chart-a/135.htm

Re: What to buy for new puppy...
We have a couple of the Kyjen stuffed puzzle toys (squirrels in a tree trunk and birds in a house). My two dogs love the little squirrels and birds just as much as the puzzle itself. Belle plays by herself -- throwing the little squirrels around. They squeak so even better. Since I have two dogs tho...

Re: How many non-hunting Britts here?
As for playing fetch with a ball -- neither of my Brits has had any interest in retrieving a ball. My current Brit will fetch squeaky, stuffed toys and sometimes he will even bring them back  However, my Beagle/Brit mix is great at retrieving toys (again squeaky, stuffed one) and will always b...

Re: How many non-hunting Britts here?
Our Brit is not a hunter either. He gets 2 good walks a day, lots of time chasing critters in the yard, and play time in the house (with a little training thrown in).

Re: heartworm protection
I've gone back to Heartgard. I have used it before and my Vet said it was basically the same as the other brand (and I can't remember if that was Iverheart or something else) he recommended so I went with something I knew.
