Re: Lola is training me again
Oh that Brittany stare! I swear you could tell time by Cooper. He stares my husband down at 3:30pm every afternoon for his walk and then at 5:30pm stares at me until I give him dinner. So, I guess I'm in the same boat -- trained to Cooper's schedule

We did the DNA test for our Beagle mix. That's how we found out that she was 1/2 Brittany. Yes, it cost $70, but it was fun.

Re: Brittany mix in an apartment
My first instinct was the same as Rose's -- he may jump out of the pen. My Brittany (Cooper) and Beagle/Brittany mix (Belle) are both very agile and can jump. That said, we put our first Brittany (Max) in a crate and went off to work. Came home that evening and he was comfortably asleep on the bed u...

Re: my new dog!
I use the SENSE-ation harness for my dogs. Love it. Keep in mind that it does not replace proper leash training, but since I was walking 2 untrained dogs at once (against my trainer's advice -- just the reality of time before work), it made my walks enjoyable again. A couple of things to keep in min...

In Northern VA -- about 15 miles outside DC. Lots of big wind and rain. Hoping that the power stays on. A tree fell on a house in our neighborhood -- no one hurt, but significant damage to house.

Acorns
I just read an article that says acorns are toxic to dogs. This year, my two dogs have decided that acorns are an exotic treat and scarf them up on walks before I have a chance to stop them. They are not eating that many on walks (maybe 2 or 3) and I haven't seen any ill effects, but they both manag...

Re: Uhhh, Mark- why is Roscoe outside?
Wow, so lucky. My Cooper would have been miles away. He can open doors with a flat, lever handle -- luckily our house is old enough that the only door with that type of handle is the french door leading to our fenced yard. So glad Roscoe is a good boy.

Re: How do I teach Lewis to stop PULLING on our walks!
We've had great success with the SENSE-ation harness (http://www.softouchconcepts.com/product ... on-harness). Our trainer lent us two to try with our dogs and it was like a miracle -- both responded really well to it. We purchased our own and have not looked back.

Same here. Our house is full of stuffed toy carcasses. I figure as long as they play with de-stuffed toys, they are worth keeping.
