Losing sleep...
The sun has been rising earlier and earlier each morning, and unfortunately so has Winnie. I'm already an early riser, but today she only made it until 4:45am. Since we're still a good month out from the summer solstice, I'm not sure I like where this is headed, lol. She sleeps in our bedroom, and o...

Re: Tramp is gone
Adele, I wish there was something I could say or do that would help you to get through this tough time. I understand how hard this is, and I know that if it was me, i'd be reacting the same way. Try to understand that you've suffered a true loss, and it can take a long time to come to accept what ha...

Re: Tramp is gone
I'm so sorry Adele! Please don't be so hard on yourself. Barb is right... sometimes these things happen. I agree with the suggestion about leaving a piece of clothing or blanket out for Tramp as a scent item. One time when my husband lost Rocket hunting up in PA he left his jacket on the ground at t...

Re: Active Brittany - cuts from running and play
We use a product on our dogs called EMT Gel when they get cuts or wounds out in the field. It's a sticky gel that forms a protective layer to help promote healing. Many dog supply places sell it... costs around $15, but it lasts a long time.

Re: Happy Holidays!
Well, that gave me a good laugh... Love it! Winnie's first Christmas will be interesting, no doubt. So far she's left the tree alone, but she's been stealing dish towels and snagging the occasional cookie from the cooling rack, so we're not sure if she's on the Naughty List or the Nice List! Best wi...

Winnie Update
Quick update... Winnie is growing so fast! She will be 3 months old tomorrow and I can't believe how much she's changed in just a few weeks. Every day brings some new milestone, and some new thing that I now have to remember to move out of her ever-expanding reach. it seems that she and Jack have tu...
Winnie
So, we brought little Winnie home almost four weeks ago, and pretty much everything has been a blur since then. She's growing so quickly, and seems to be a very smart puppy. She and Jack are still trying to figure things out, but no major issues so far. I'm experimenting with posting pics... Hope th...

Re: Rocket/Jack
Aww thanks...! Well, its been a long week. We all keep expecting to see Rocket in one of his usual spots, and then when he isn't there, its another painful reminder that he's really gone. But, life goes on. Work has been crazy, my daughter has soccer try-outs, etc.... so there's been plenty of distr...

Rocket/Jack
We lost our beautiful boy Rocket on Friday, after a sudden downward spiral related to liver disease/cancer. He was 13. I don't even have words to adequately express the pain that our family is going through right now. Rocket was easily the smartest dog I've ever come across...we could always see the...

Re: New pictures of Jazz :)
I'm partial to roans as well. You can't really tell from my sig pic, but Jack is an O/W roan. I honestly think it's easier having two dogs, lol. Rocket was 4 when we got Jack, and it really made a difference with him having somebody else to pal around with during the day. Now both dogs are getting o...

Re: Tube Socks for Dogs
I prefer using child-sized socks, but in a pinch I've used an adult sized crew sock and secured it with adhesive tape or sports wrap to keep it from slipping (without being too tight).

Re: New pictures of Jazz :)
So cute! I've been trying to convince my husband that its time for us to add a younger dog to the mix. Maybe this pics will help me bring him around, lol.

Re: Vision Problems
Reading this thread with great interest... Rocket is almost 13 and has similar issues with his sight and hearing. Like Kayla, some things are inconsistent, but its still heartbreaking when he doesn't respond to things the way I'm expecting... Like opening the deck slider and not having him race for ...
