Re: Oldest Brittany???
I can't top 17, but my inlaws' dog (Sparky) lived to be 15 and a half, and our Rebel made it to age 13.

Re: Thinking of getting a new dog
I'm glad to hear that you're thinking about getting another dog! What happened with Leena was terribly sad and unexpected, but I can't imagine that it would prevent you from adopting another dog. I've had my share of bad moments too..... kids leaving the gate open, dogs climbing over the fence, dogs...

Re: two other Britts in our neigborhood
There are two other Brittany owners that I know of in our development. The one guy has a pretty female pup, about a year old, and I often see them out walking in the neighborhood. Once I stopped him, but he wasn't real chatty, and didn't seem quite as impressed as I was by the fact that we BOTH had ...

Re: For those with hardwood/laminate floors.
We have laminate flooring in our kitchen and entryway. We've never had a problem in the kitchen, and the floor has held up very well. However, sometimes if a dog comes running downstairs really fast, he will miss the rug at the bottom of the steps and go sliding towards the door. Nobody has ever bee...

Re: What is the sweetest thing your Brittany ever did?
When Jack first joined our family, he slept in the boys' room every night with the door closed. This was mostly because he liked to wake up early and start raising a ruckus with Rocket before the sun was even up. So, in an effort to maximize sleep time, the dogs were separated at night. I'm an early...

Re: Things My Dogs have Eaten
What is it with Brittany's and toilet paper. My dog eats it like its a string of spaghetti! My old girl Rebel never would eat the toilet paper, but when we weren't home she would grab an end of it and run through the house leaving a TP trail in her wake. Its amazing how much toilet paper comes on o...

Things My Dogs have Eaten
Reading Adele's response to the New Puppy post reminded me of all the interesting things our dogs have ingested (or otherwise destroyed) over the years. Rebel, our first Britt, got my husband's glasses, a remote control, a package of pork chops that were defrosting on the counter, a pair of high hee...

Animal Cruelty Case/A Warning
Today on my local morning news I was greeted with the horrific story of a kitten that had been savagely abused, tortured, and then drowned. The kitten's owners were vacationing at the beach and had asked a neighbor's teen age son to tend the kitten while they were gone. At some point, the teen invit...

Re: Input, please!
I have to admit that at the time, my husband wasn't completely onboard with the idea of adding another dog to our crew either. Although he grew up having Brittanys and just loved Rocket to distraction, he felt that with a smaller house and three growing children, another dog might be too much. I got...

Re: Input, please!
We got Rocket as a 6 month-old pup, and he was an only dog until Jack arrived (approximately 4 years later). Now, several things had changed in our circumstances since the time Rocket joined us....I had returned to working full-time, the kids had gotten older, and consequently Rocket was spending mo...
Re: Huge Void
I have also experienced the loss of a beloved pet and I know how much it hurts. I am so very sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you. As others have already said, this Board is a great place to find comfort and support.

Re: Storm and Timber are Gone
I just logged on for the first time since lunchtime yesterday. In reading the posts, I've gone from one emotional extreme to the other. (I will admit that I had to jump ahead to page 2 to find out their current status!). I'm so relieved that you found them safe and sound! I've been down this road a ...
