Re: Hello to all
we still can't believe this personable, well behaved dog was deemed to be a poor pet We feel exactly the same way about our Jack. His former owner actually gave us instructions not to feed him high quality food because it would make him have "too much energy", which would be funny if it weren't so ...

Re: No Peace in the Shower
When Rocket was a pup, he would push the curtain open with his nose so that he could see me. When I closed it, he'd just open it again. Eventually, he realized that I wasn't going to disappear or anything when behind the shower curtain! Jack apparently had never seen such a thing as a shower before....

Re: Need help finding a dog massage class
Last night I was paging through a catalogue of the non-credit classes our local community college will be offering this summer, and doggie massage was one of them! I don't live near you, but I would suggest checking with any local community colleges in your area. Good luck!

Re: Trapper says turnips ....
We aren't big turnip fans at my house, but both Rocket and Jack will beg for uncooked pasta, any kind. If I give them a few uncooked spaghetti noodles, you'd think it was prime rib!

Mending Fences
On Friday when my husband (who had the day off) got a phone call from a nice lady who had "found our little dog Rocket out in the field". Well, Steve just about fell over...it's been years since we've had a dog go AWOL. He'd let them both out earlier, and could even see Jack still snoozing on the de...

Re: Countersurfer Boy
Jack doesn't usually countersurf, but he will go for any kind of round fruit (oranges, apples) that's left within reach because he loves to play ball. If it looks like a ball, then it's a ball. Once he even brought me a potato to play with!

I finally got a pic of Jack and Rocket posted with my signature! Of course my 18 yr-old son had to pretty much do it for me, but I did watch, lol. This picture is pretty typical Jack/Rocket behavior... Rocket is minding his own business, and Jack wants to play. Jack never takes no for an answer!

Re: does anyone...
Jack and Rocket view anything that comes from my hand as a "treat", even if its just their usual kibble. Sometimes I'll hand feed when I notice that one or the other seems to be off the normal eating routine (i.e. food gone as soon as I put it down). If they leave food behind, and won't take it from...

Re: Opening gates and doors
Rocket and Jack both figured out how to unlatch the back yard gate. We now have to keep it tied down tight with bungee cables and the gate is unusable. So it's either hop the fence, or go around the long way! So far they haven't figured out how to release the cords (knock on wood).Rocket is also ski...

Re: Its a boy!
Congratulations on a beautiful baby boy and welcome to the crazy roller-coaster ride called parenthood! I can empathize with your situation as our oldest son was also born about 3 weeks early and had a similar complication. Although it was an emotionally and physically exhausting experience, I quick...

Re: Mission Dog - Ideas for Enrichment (long post)
There are some great ideas here! Just what I need for keeping Jack occupied and out of trouble when we aren't home. On a side note, our dogs have always enjoyed playing with plastic bottles. Rocket has even been known to sneak them out of the recycling trash all by himself when he has the chance. Fi...

bring mud!! At least to my house, anyway. Our poor backyard is a mess after having a few rainy days this week. Nobody (kids mostly) wants to be the one letting the dogs in because it means wiping their feet! Jack doesn't mind it, but Rocket HATES getting his feet wiped off and usually tries to sneak...

Here's hoping that everything goes well! He is absolutely gorgeous! Our Rocket has a blaze down his nose and forehead, but otherwise they could practically be twins. Good luck!

Re: would anybody like to trade?
I was thinking of offering Rocket, but the baby gate probably wouldn't be enough to keep him out of trouble. Whenever he hears something possibly food-related in the kitchen, Rocket has been known to leap over big furniture (sofa, loveseat, whatever is in the way) to come investigate. I doubt that a...
