Re: We finally have our puppy!
Congratulations!! That's fantastic news! We haven't had a puppy for some time, but our first Britt was only 8 weeks when we got her... Oh, how I remember that moment of falling crazy, head over heels in love with her. Enjoy!

Re: Molly's First E Collar Session
Rocket wears a bell on his e-collar when out in the field, and that's his cue for knowing who is in charge. This has been helpful to me on those random occasions when I realized too late that the collar was low and needed charging. I rarely use the stimulus... It's mostly for my own peace of mind (j...

Re: Lola and Tramp, Lola is being hateful
I'm a firm believer in destiny (and happy endings!) so I would love to see this all work out between Lola and Tramp. Looking at the situation from Lola's viewpoint, her behavior is very understandable. When we brought Jack home, Rocket was pretty awful to him as well. It took about a week of Rocket'...

Re: BIG day for Layla
Rocket wears an e-collar when off-leash in the field. He's generally responsive to either a whistle or hand signals (if he sees me), but like Layla, he sometimes gets distracted. In the beginning, before I ever used the collar on Rocket, I tested it on my hand so I would know what the stimulus felt ...

Re: How many non-hunting Britts here?
Rocket has been hunting with my husband a few times, but this is more the exception than the rule, lol. Our yard backs to some ball fields and open space, so most mornings I get Rocket and Jack out for a good long run. We have a fenced yard, and they burn a lot of energy just playing and wrestling w...

Re: Lola is training me again
Every morning, Rocket sits outside by the gate and stares at the house waiting for me to take him for a run. Unfortnately he doesn't understand how darkness factors in... I get up at the same time every day, but in January its dark at 6am so the walk has to wait. It make me feel awful when I walk pa...

Re: Stuffed Toys
Sorry, but I don't think I'll ever understand Brittany behavior! At my house, Rocket can destroy a stuffed toy in seconds, and can't even have his own anymore. When my daughter was little, he would sneak away and chew the noses off of her Care Bears (oh the horror!) Jack, on the other hand, is gentl...

Re: BE SAFE ...
My only worry is losing power for more than a few hours. I'm with you on that! We're in MD (north of Baltimore) and BGE has been issuing statements that if power is lost, it could take up to a week to restore it! We don't have a generator either, but we've stockpiled all the essential items (candle...

Here's something different...
On Friday, I was out in the yard with the dogs when Jack came running up to me with a muddy walnut in his mouth. He was very proud of himself, and I noticed that he'd been digging, so I thought he must have sniffed out some poor squirrel's nut cache. I threw the walnut away, and didn't think much mo...
