Re: Chronic weight loss
Update!!!! Buckley went back in for his two-week checkup with doc and.....HE GAINED 4 POUNDS!!!!!! The meds seem to be working and the diagnosis of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency appears to be the right one. The vet said if he wasn't deficient in pancreatic enzymes, adding them wouldn't have made...

Re: Chronic weight loss
OK, after three consecutive days of tests, the vet thinks Buckley may have Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency or food allergies. Basically, he's not producing enough enzymes to properly digest his food or his food is causing him to produce an inflammatory response and he's not able to digest it. This...

Yes, we are fine here in Vicksburg. The areas north of town are flooded and the waterfront is flooded but the town itself is high and dry - where I live wouldn't flood even if the river were 50 ft higher. I've been traveling for work and I saw the same national media coverage. The media really has a...

Re: Maggie is such a little helper
Buckley is so very good at consuming calories before I can. He prefers baked goods. Cookies, cake, bread. It's a great reminder that I shouldn't be eating processed carbs.

Chronic weight loss
Ok, I know, I know. Long time, no post. Vicksburg is not under water, nor has it been torn apart by tornadoes. I've been busy traveling, working long hours, and yadda yadda yadda. Buckley is fine but for one major problem. He keeps losing weight. He lost weight this fall when he had a kidney infecti...

Found an agility instructor!
So I finally found an agility club AND instructor. I've been working here in Mississippi and never knew I worked with the person who owns the main agility training facility in the Jackson Mississippi area! I have an invite to bring Buckley out so we can see what he remembers and we can place him in ...

I'm sorry to hear about Sparkle. But Oakley sounds great! A Brit-Pyr? I must see this. I bet he'll grow up to have a great personality. I love the laid back nature of the big herding dogs. Combine that with the adorable sweetness of a Brit and I bet you have a terrific dog.

Re: No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Nothing compliments the scent of wet dog like goose poop! Sorry - I'm sure it's not very funny to you - but I've gotta laugh. You can't make a Brit stop being being Brit, even for one day.

Re: asking for puppy prayers
I'm so glad Humphrey managed to expel the bandages. How could those be yummy? I don't understand the Brittany palate at all. (Well I do. The first question any good Brit asks of a new object is "Can I eat it?") In the last week Buckley has eaten corn starch and a sugar dish full of demerara sugar. I...

I'm glad the Anipryl is giving you some peace. It's so hard to handle anything when you're not sleeping well. 15 1/2 is truly a feat. I hope the meds are all she'll need to be content.

Re: Weight loss and slightly elevated BUN
I think Buckley is feeling better-at least there hasn't been anymore vomiting. He's in clingy mood tonight but I think it's because he shut himself in the closet again today and he was pretty upset about it when I got home. I think he knocks his kongs in there and then shuts the door on himself when...

Re: Weight loss and slightly elevated BUN
Buckley went back for another check up after another three weeks on Azodyl (the probiotic supplement). His urine protein levels are down again (yippee!) and his weight is up 1 lb. But the vet did find active sediment in his urine so he's thinking infection. Because of the possible infection, he elec...

Re: PJ Updae
*hugs* I know exactly what you're going through. Buckley destroyed a kennel and a set of vertical blinds since we've moved to Mississippi. His SA is ever-present. Some days are better than others but he spends most of his day pacing and staring out the window for me to come home. The lonely howls ar...
