Re: asking for puppy prayers
I am so sorry to hear about Humphrey. Buckley has had his share of close calls pulling loose from me or escaping. It's a horrendous moment but I couldn't imagine how much worse it would be if her were hit. Your post has me so shaken. I really hope Humphrey pulls through. Time has amazing healing pro...

Re: Weight loss and slightly elevated BUN
Thanks for the link, Barb! Tons of good info. I don't think his bloodwork was too alarming to the vet - mostly the numbers combined with the weight loss. Lisa, the vet told me to provide him unlimited access to water. I have and he is going through several bowls a day. He can make it through the nig...

Re: Cassie misses the snow...
You may need to take her up to the mountains for a weekend trip. Barb. She'd have a blast. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time someone chose their vacation spot for a Brittany.

Weight loss and slightly elevated BUN
I took Buckley to the vet yesterday because he seemed to be experiencing UTI symptoms (straining to pee, leaking urine in his sleep, etc.) I was surprised when they weighed him. He had lost about 5 lb since his last visit in August. I knew he was skinny and I had upped his food to compensate. But I ...

Re: Nina Ottosson toys
I may have to invest in one of these puzzles for Buckley. It'll have to wait for a bit though. I may have found a house with a (small) fenced yard that accepts dogs! Buckley will have to make do with that present in the meantime.

Re: Lump between toes?
Buckley still seems to be OK. The spot seems to be healing; a little scab formed over where it ruptured. He's still licking at it more than I'd like but it doesn't seem like it's coming back or getting infected. I'm hoping that he'll leave it alone once it finishes healing. I don't know what caused ...

Re: Lump between toes?
Update: Buckley was biting at his foot so I put some warm water in a bowl and soaked his foot in it thinking it may help soothe it. Well the lump burst after a few minutes. It looked like the weird white stuff from the inside of a sebaceous cyst. I guess it was just that - a sebaceous cyst. I had ju...

Lump between toes?
I found a hard lump between Buckley's second and third toes on his right front paw. I took a picture with my cell phone camera and posted it here http://picasaweb.google.com/Candice.Piercy/LumpBetweenToes# I did some searching online and it seems interdigital furuncles are the most common cause of l...

Re: HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!
Happy New Year, everybody! Buckley was happy to see 2010 end. We had severe thunderstorms here from the afternoon all the way to around midnight. The storms moved off to the east as 2011 made it's entrance. We welcomed the new year this morning with a good morning snuggle. Here's to a new year full ...

Re: Any thoughts on neglect recovery?
As the owner of a previously-neglected pupper with lots of current psychological issues, I'd watch for signs of separation anxiety once she bonds with you. I'd start her out with a structured routine from day one so she can quickly become secure in her new home. NILIF works wonders for pushy and for...

No ideas here either. We are thinking about you and Logan. Poor guy and poor you! Waiting for the vet to open is so tough. Let us know what the vet says.

Re: Separation Anxiety Relapse
Sorry! It has been a while. I've been lurking but I've been super busy. Buckley is currently having some quality time with (being spoiled by) my parents in Virginia. They decided to keep him there between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We're still dealing with the separation anxiety. Buckley paces for ...
