Speaking of sarcomas at injection sites, my vet said that there was an article in the veterinary journals recently saying that on cats the injection site should be moved to the leg muscles instead of between the shoulder blade. That way should a sarcoma occur as a result of vaccines, it could more e...

I can almost feel your pain. While Rolo is recovering from his surgery, we only have one dog we can take out and I miss Rolo terribly. Even in the house, he spends so much time laying in his bed its hard not having him following us around the house and being with us in general. How soon will it be t...

Dave and Cindy,

i've been so wrapped up taking care of Rolo after his surgery, I haven't watched the boards. So sorry to hear about Angie and Annie. Hopefully soon your sadness will be gone and you will be filled with fun memories of your pups.

Thanks Kathy, This has been really stressful. He's got pain meds, but I can see its still quite painful. He isn't even trying to get up even though he needs to go out and when I help him he whines. The vet wants to see him every two weeks to see how he's doing and we haven't talked about any rehab y...

Thanks Barb, I feel the diet the dogs are on is quite good, obviously not good enough for a rough and tumble Brittany. Generally they are fed Innova, or Solid Gold Wolf along with some meats, veggies, or cheese and a sprinkle of oil on their food. A couple of times a week I throw in some extra vit C...

Cindy, I suspect that his other leg will need it as well. He's been to the vet twice for his now "good" leg. I suppose that he stated using the leg which snapped after having trouble with the good leg. I can't wait for him to heal up and be himself again. For the last month or so he hasn't been hims...

After surgery supplements for healing

Rolo will be going in for surgery to repair his ACL on Monday. Anyone know what supplements will help him to heal? What amounts to give for a 48lb Britt? I know from experience there is a long recooperation period but I want to make sure everything goes well for him. The vet will also be checking th...

Another Humane Society story, several years ago I found a Springer Spaniel and called them to let them know I found one and if they had someone looking for a lost Springer to call me. I also ran ads for the dog. Several weeks later I got a call from the HS notifying me that they think they found my ...

Well, its 5:30am and he just had his breakfast and seems fine. Its too dark out to see if he's had a bowel movement. I can't even watch him out in the yard as we still have a tree down from the hurricane a couple of months ago blocking my view. He seems to be feeling better, but he's really tired fr...

Help, dog ate squirrel

This morning at the dog park, Blue found a dog carcass left by another dog. When he noticed I saw him he took off running with it and as he ran by me I could hear him chewing on it. He stopped for a moment and next thing I know the squirrel is gone. I'm sure he swallowed it almost whole. He seemed f...

First thing you need is an ID tag and put it on his new collar right away. I personally like a rolled leather collar. With a new dog he might not respond to you right away and see you as family. He could become confused and take off. So please get the ID tag on first thing.
