I live in a small house with a cat and a dog, Misty and Spot. Here's the picture. They are both rescue from a local shelter and they live together, but they tend to still each other's food frequently. Though I managed to fix this buying raised bowl as mentioned here for my kitty.
A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere.
