The big huge High Park fire is about 100 miles or so from those of us here in the Denver Metro area, so we are fine and not aware of any Brittanys in need from the fire so far. Shelters are taking in pets and all kinds of farm animals It sure is awful to watch, and if you listen in on scanners, the Firefighters are sounding pretty tired now. There is a wolf sanctuary within the fire area that definitely needs prayers and good thoughts. They were able to get about half of their wolves out, nearly 20 are still there, they have underground cement bunkers to get into away from the fire, if they will. I think it's going to be a long hot summer.

I saw on the wolf sanctuary's facebook page that they were able to get the last of the wolves out today. The fire bunkers worked well. They had a video of the fire damage around the enclosures. The fire had burned right up to the fences but because of all the fire mitigation and removal of ground fuels it didn't go any further. Amazing! Kat is right,, it is going to be a long hot summer. On the way home tonight I drove past three forest service trucks and a fire engine parked at a scenic overlook a few miles from my house. No word on any fires, I am hoping it was just precautionary because of lightening earlier but it is nerve wracking!! Way too dry.
