First day in the field
A friend, who is training her Gordon Setter for his hunt test, has invited Victor to be part of the training this morning. She is supplying the fenced field and birds for training. Victor is there to get her dog accustomed to another dog in the field. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to get Victor in the field with birds. So, yesterday he was running agility, today he'll be running in the field, hunting birds - where he really belongs!

Re: First day in the field
What fun!! I wish I could find someone who knew what they were doing and bring my dogs along. It would be interesting to see what they would do.

Don't be surprised if your friend with the Gordon decides to get a Brittany at the end of the day
All kidding aside, I bet Victor's nose and instincts will shine....he may not know all the rules, but he'll snap into hunting mode pretty easy, I'd put money on it
Can't wait for the report

My Gordon Setter friend informed me that by percentages, there are more dual champion Gordon Setters than Brittanys.
Ok - your field, your birds, your brag. She has no interest in a Brittany.
Victor flushed the first bird he found; pointed the second bird but didn't hold; caught the bird in flight as it flushed but didn't hurt it. Flushed the 3rd bird in the field. I did see the hunting instinct kick in and Victor was actually hunting! We even shot the starter pistol twice to see if Victor is still gunshy - only made him more excited to hunt!
Priceless memories! It's going to be hard to deny him hunting opportunities now that I've seen him in action!
Yesterday he was qualifying in Agility; this morning, hunting birds; this afternoon, sleeping on the couch. That's my buddy.

Re: First day in the field
I brag and if you knew Victor's daddy - you'd know who really brags about his little orange buddy!
